ElixirChristened as Elixir ‘09, the annual day of Swami Vivekananda Institute of Technology was conducted in the vast premises of Mahbub Campus, Secunderabad on 25th March,09. The event started at around 2 with the jukebox in the canteen with DJ Sharon as the host post. She brought down the crowd to the dance floor with her nifty music mix. This was followed by the prize distribution in the college level.

The glamour quotient was alive as the students were dressed traditionaaly in sarees, ghagras, sherwani’s and blazers. The main rippple factor was by the first year students for they had the titles for freshers competition. The one who wins the hearts of judges by word-thought co-ordinated miraculous instinct answers and one who steals the ramp will be titled Mr. Fresher and crowned Ms.Fresher.”It was very flashy and the complete event of freshers was about spontaineity”, says Mourya, a Ms.fresher contestant.

The first years dodge away from seniors in fear of getting ragged, which the seniors proclaim as interaction. One student declares that there is no ragging in the campus as they abide by the rules and regulations. Amidst of all his havoc and tension started the freshers finals. The 14 participants were on the ramp with the heart eluding high rock music. The query round for the Freshers contest ended up as a eliminate zone for 5 Girls and 5 guys and who they were was a suspense as all the participants were dressed well and spoke with great confidence.

The classical dance was a best showcase of innate talent. Followed by a dance performance by Sagar & group and a Veena recital by Bharadwaj of CSE. Krishna Teja of CSE grabbed the complete attention of the audience by his magic show. Here comes the rabbit and there it turns into some decorative lace. Known as SHADOO Jr, he exhibited the wand power and also asked the crowd not to believe the fake Baba’s. “This is the biggest event of our college and we project our talent here, opines Teja”. Espoused by this was a group medley and a solo performance by Aasma of forth year.

The positive show-case of the unity in diversity, patriotism, ethics by the students dressed up with white costume with the Oscar awarded Jai Ho in the background was a outcome for everyone to commemorate. And this observation was accredited to Abhishek of CSE for his mind was the place where the idea was rooted. A huge round of applause started as the Indian flag was lifted as a tribute to the Matyrs.

The judges for Freshers were given a tight time to declare the judgement as the no loophole performance zone of the participants. CHILL ZONE:
The stall zone was almost a houseful from the starting as it had lots to offer. From food stalls to game stalls. One was again muzzy on which game to go for as they virtined games like Darts, Oye lucky lucky oye and Tattoo stall.
When questioned how much of prior time was consumed by the event, few zeroed on a month work as they had many competitions to take part. Besides technical and cultural, events like Ekebana(flower arrangement) and Rangoli competitions were also held. The sports and games offered entertainment in addition to physical fitness and every time there was a tug of war for the position ONE. They make it a point that the position ONE people are the ones who always walk out with the laurels and the prizes. Each time you find a familiar face of their classmates, they giggle saying “Hey my friend” and the whistles and applause starts. The fun went on till 10 p.m.

A huge crowd was gathered as the parents of the students were invited. The college ground was completely decorated. The parents were all glad by the talent stage on of the students and many wondered as it was a student – management co-ordinated event.”The rappers were excellent and we hope to rock Elixir the next year too, averred Vaibhav from 3rd year IT”. The students who win competitions in other colleges are also esteemed. The faculty extols the management for rewarding the students for other activities too as this recharges and inspires the other students.

The audience promulgated and the noise reached skies when the names of the Secretary Mr. Anil Kumar and Chairman Mr. Pichchaiah were taken as the buliding blocks and the main pillars of success of the complete event.
