Resonanzz

The 26th of March, 2009, marked another day in the history of Malla Reddy Engineering College, the mother college of Malla Reddy Group of Institutions (MRGI) as the institute celebrated its 7th college day function, ‘Resonanzz – ‘09′. Despite being the last in the row of college day celebrations of the constituent colleges, the main campus jubilations proved next to none (sans the audience that seemed to have reduced a bit in number as compared to the previous year!!). Dr. Viswanath, Director of Evaluation, JNTU, Hyderabad was the chief guest while Dr.Y.V. Rami Reddy, ex-Vice Chancellor, JNTU, Hyderabad presided over the function as the guest of honour. Adding to the panel of dignitaries on stage was the presence of Mr. Kodanda Rami Reddy who is a renowned director from the telugu film industry.

All the dignitaries spoke mainly about personality development as the key to the kickstart to any career, and raised accolades to Mr. Ch. Malla Reddy’s efforts in the upbringing of such an integral group of institutions. What was most commendable of Dr. Rami Reddy’s speech was his way of reminding the students as well as the teachers their rightful duties. He said, “Success lies no where else but in your own hands, and instead of complaining what your lecturers or the institute has done for you, you should instead work hard on your own until you achieve your goal”. And for the lecturers he commented,” A true teacher is the one who can engage a class and build the students’ attention in class without ever carrying a textbook or any sort of notes to the class”.

While speaking on how he got to such a status in life, the Chairman of MRGI, Mr. Ch. Malla Reddy narrated how he turned to the world of education from selling milk, and proudly announced how he is backed up with tens of thousands of students, and hundreds of staff acting as his strength!! And this, he mentioned, to be the foremost reason for the colleges of MRGI being the most sought after ones…or in his words ‘the colleges having a craze among aspiring students’!! One more time he reminded all his students to leave apart laziness and work towards achieveing their goals with great zeal and enthusiasm as well persuading them to make the best use of all the resources being provided.
As always, the few moments that the king of the empire appeared at the podium were moments of hullabaloo in the audience!!

Following the interim session of speeches, the program finally begun with the traditional prize-distribution ceremony (which unfortunately could not go about the intended manner as the guests awarding the prizes were kept waiting while the prize-winners never knew their name was being announced…..hmmm!!). But all is well that ends well, and towards the end Mr. Ram Reddy, Chief Administrative Officer, MRGI, took over the mike just to set things right, in time!! Further, to settle the hustle-bustle among the audience (or rather to increase a pint of it..), he announced the arrival of two more special guests (’special attraction’ in the function, as you may call it!!), Mr. Mohitesham Ali Khan, World Body Building Champion, and Tarun, renowned Tollywood actor.Following a short uproar in the audience, the special guests were finally called upon stage to present the awards to the winners in sports. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Ram Reddy announced the inclusion of Mr. Mohitesham Ali Khan in the governing body of the ‘Sports Village’ being assumed to be constructed soon by the MRGI.

Moving on to the most awaited part of the event, the cultural programs, which begun with a traditional ‘Ganesh Vandana’ performed in a semi-classical manner, followed by the traditional prayer dance done in classical manner. The program advanced, thus, with dance performances of various genres one after the other and there was some gap in between with a short but moving rock-on…(oops), that is, rock band performance. An acute lack of skits and dramatic performances was observed though, which was presmed to be due to the proposed (deliberate) inclusion of some more dance performances including that of Shiamak Davar’s troupes (wonder why they were performing at a college day function!!!). A short documentary on the day-to-day life in Malla Reddy Engineering College campus shot by one of the 1st year ECE students was another special feature though, which was shown to the audience during an interim break in the proceeding of the event.

Dinner, fireworks, and a galore of music, all added to the splendid show while the restless audience already instigated their disco even before the DJ actually began playing!! However, what in the event would be mostly talked of were the dinner and the decoration (which also included the ‘pukka’ stage built a few days ahead of the event!!). And so, all that ends well…..is, somehow, well…!!!
