Murthy Institute of Technology & Sciences is established in the year 2004, under the guidance of Sri RSN Murthy garu, Chief Engineer (Retd) (Government of Andhra Pradesh). The college is affiliated to JNTU. The college is located at Ankireddypalli cross roads, a place which is just 14 Km away from ECIL X-road and is very near to Keesaragutta, the abode of Lord Shiva. The college is run by eminent Directors supervising various fields. The main vision of the Chairman and the board of directors is to impart quality education and to improve the teaching standards in the field of technological education in Andhra Pradesh. With a total number of three hundred (300) seats, college provides admission to Bachelors degree (full time) in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and also Information Technology Engineering (IT). The college also offers courses like MCA and MBA.
The college runs under the able Principal, Dr. P. Appala Naidu garu, an eminent educationalist. Appala Naidu garu is author of several text books and journals. He has been in the field of teaching since thirty years, working as a Head of the Department in Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University – Hyderabad. He is very encouraging and helps students to realize and cherish their dreams. Most of the faculty members are very well qualified with their hard earned Post Graduation degrees from various Universities. Faculty in the college are very friendly and helpful. All their academic assignments are completed in time and very well handled.
Coming to the facilities in the college, the infrastructure is good with spacious class rooms, seminar halls and a healthy canteen. Classrooms are maintained well with good ventilation. Canteen in the college is not so great but the food is okay and healthy to an extent that there have been no complaints so far (Thank God!). Sarath, a student of second year B.Tech (ECE), says, “The main problem with the college canteen is that the contractors keep changing and every time a new one comes there is a hike in the food price and menu keeps changing”. Coming to the transport facility, college has buses connected all over the city. College runs seven different routes all over.
Getting on to the important place in the college called labs – Murthy Institute of Technology & Sciences facilitates very good labs. The labs for Computers and Information Technology department are well acquainted and are maintained well. The college maintains good record of new softwares and antiviruses. Bharadwaj (CSE – 1), a young programmer, says, “The computer lab is the best place because playing with the programs and experimenting with the new logics is always exciting”. Electrical and Electronics department labs are alright but not well furnished. Faculty and college authorities say that the college has better labs when compared to other colleges (That’s a great explanation!). Labs for English department are good and satisfactory.
Library in the college is well furnished and very well maintained. The college library facilitates several volumes of books. It has all the books preferred by the JNT University. College library has good books related to GRE, TOEFL, GMAT etc., and many magazines, weekly releases and monthly releases related to Engineering are available as well. Gayathri (CSE – 2), a book worm in college, says, “The college facilitates a great library which has every thing we can ask for”.
Students of the college participate in various events conducted all over India. Industrial tours and NSS camps are additional advantages to the college. The first batch of the college has come out this year and many of them got into various Universities abroad and in India to pursue their future studies.
On the down side, the college lacks in providing sports and co-curricular activities to the students. Inspite of repeated requests, the college ground is not totally made. Other wise in all other aspects, the college is great and fun. “The college will surely stand among the top ten colleges in the city, if it is provided with good sport and co-curricular activities”, exclaims Vijay, a student of second year (IT).
