Hail Villa Marie 01

Dance, music, masti! It was all there and so were hundreds of pretty girls! The occasion was none other than the freshers’ party “Synergy” hosted by the second and third year students of Villa Marie College to welcome their juniors. The event that started with a spell binding semi-classical dance, performed by the B.Com students, made the crowd sway. After the dance came the highlight of the day – the competition for Miss. Synergic 2009, where 42 pretty and bright girls dressed in orange and yellow saris, walked elegantly down the ramp. The crowd that cheered endlessly for all the contestants defined youth in a completely new sense.

The chief guests of the day, Ashwin Malve (a supermodel, who has walked the ramp for big names like Armani and Roberto Cavalli) and Mrs. Kiran Krishnamurthy judged the girls, who took part in the Miss. Synergic competition. In the first round, where every contestant was to relate her personality to a noun, the girls outdid themselves by not showing even a single iota of fear or hesitation. Out of the 42 contestants only 16 were short listed for the second round.

Between every two rounds of the competition there were various performances like dance and drama by the senior girls. Everything new and everything hip. If there was a drama about recession then there were group dances to the hit numbers of ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Kaminey’, ‘Johnny Gaddar’ and ‘Dostana’.

The 16 contestants, in the second round (situation round), were given extremely witty questions, which were answered by them just as wittily proving that beauty walked hand in hand with brains at Villa Marie College. But when there is competition there has to be elimination too. Out of the 16 girls only 5 were selected for round 3.

The most appreciated of all was a special performance, a tribute to Michael Jackson – The King of Pop. The students of B.A Mass Communication and Journalism, who danced to his legendary songs on stage made the crowd go crazy with zest.

The top 5 contestants – Paridhi, Vaijayanthi, Jessie, Sushmita and Jayshree – went through another round of questions and answers after which the results were finally declared. Sushmita, won the title of Miss Synergic 2009 while Jayshree and Vaijayanthi were declared the first and second runners up respectively.

After 3 hrs hours of  entertainment the time came for some ‘pate pooja’. Biryani, Naan, Manchuria, Paneer Butter Masala, Raitha, Ice-creams, fruit juices and what not! After one month of superiority and ragging the seniors and juniors mingled together the way age old friends do.

But that was not the end. The DJ had the hottest tracks saved for the last one, where the girls danced their shoes off. On the stage, on the seats, on the grass and on the sand. There was not even a single square centimeter, where girls were not dancing.

“I had lots of fun! The whole event was groovy and pumpy. I did not like the food all that much but then I had a great time with my friends. I think the seniors worked really hard to put this party together and every bit of their hard work really paid off.  The DJ was good and that really gave energy to the whole event. The dancing part was mast! I went wild with my friends!” said fresher Alekhya of B.A Mass Communication and Journalism.

It rocked ! people had a blast! Once again Villa Marie proved to be the best college of this city!
