‘Colorz’ of MITS

24/08/09 is a great day in the history of Murthy Institute of Technology and Sciences because the college launched its official magazine ‘Colorz‘ and a Non government organization ‘WAT‘ on this day. The event was organized in the college seminar hall. Initiators of the programmes organized the event very well. The seminar hall was vividly decorated with banners and color papers. Chaitanya, one of the initiators says, “The name of the magazine is interesting and the caption is very apt”. Principal Dr.P.Appala Naidu was the chief guest for the day. Many dignitaries such as Dr. Janardhan – Vice principal, Prakash – Senior associate professor, Prasad – Sports incharge, Krishna – Accounts officer etc., graced the stage. Dignitaries were invited onto the stage with grand bouquets. Kamlesh, a 2nd year ECE student delivered the welcome address. The program had a great start with ‘Jyothi Prajwalana’ by the visionaries present on stage. Gayathri, a student of third year CSE sang a song on lord Ganesha to signal the proceedings. The program was hosted by Kamlesh and Sireesha, both of them second year students and later by Phani and Niharika. The entire program was hosted very well with good sense of humor in between the events. Sarath and Bindu of third year came up with an interesting speech, which marked the importance of the college having a magazine. Aparna, a student from second year CSE says, “It’s great to have a magazine for a college”.

The magazine was launched by the chief guest and the first copy was handed over to the Vice principal Dr. Janardhan. Entire seminar hall resonated with cheers and applauds at the opening of the magazine. Initiators and the crew of ‘Colorz’ shouted in excitement when the magazine was launched. The chief guest stressed on the importance of college magazine in bringing out the talents present in the students on this account. The vice principal also congratulated the student community for their efforts and hard work in bringing out the magazine. The entire faculty congratulated the initiators for the successful launch. Guests and students were served with refreshments as a part of launch.

The event took an interesting turn, when the initiators also launched the NGO -’WAT’. Kalyan, a key initiator of the NGO says, “The NGO is named ‘WAT’ which means ‘We Are There‘. He also adds, “The NGO works for the rehabilitation of orphans, destitute and also for the anti child labor activities”. Aparna and Bharadwaj of second year CSE spoke about the social activities, which will be taken up by the WAT. Prakash, senior associate professor in Maths congratulated the students for launching an NGO. Fourth years of the college congratulated the third years and second years for bringing out the magazine and NGO in the college. Chief Editors, editors and advisory committee were selected with the help of students in the college. The second years and third years in the college were asked to subscribe for the magazine. The cost of the subscription was decided as thirty rupees for three months and rupees fifty for six months. The college management and faculty members encouraged the initiators with their sponsorship.

The college information letter is a monthly publication with four pages. Lot of valuable information is made available to the students through the college magazine. Interesting columns like hangouts, roadsterzz, gadget are made available in the magazine. The college magazine is also providing a special platform for the students to showcase their talents in the field of art and literature. Special care is taken in enlightening the students with recent question papers. The first magazine had interesting information related to the college Independence Day celebrations.

The magazine authorities along with the college management are planning to conduct interactive sessions like debate, public speaking, group discussions, etc. to improve the communication skills of the students. Phani – a crew member of ‘Colorz’ says, “I am really proud to be member of Colorz”. The entire program came to an end with the vote of thanks by Deepika of IT and Kalyan of third year ECE. On this occasion, the entire crew of Colorz thanked the chairman, principal and faculty members for the invaluable support and encouragement given by them. Crew also thanked entire student community for making the program a grand success.
