Present on the prime stretch Necklace road, Jalvihar is drawing huge crowds on the weekends. Jalvihar is the best place to hang out with friends and family in these holidays. Chaitanya, a B.Tech student says, “It’s a good place to hang out because it has got all the amenities required for a water park”. Jalvihar is surrounded by many happening places like Eat street, Imax and Lumbini Park. Jalvihar is a better place to enjoy the water rides, when compared to ocean park and mount opera because it is located in the heart of the city on Necklace road. This mini water theme park is attracting people of different ages. Valet parking is available in the place. Nikitha, a third year engineering student says, “I like the place because it is very well maintained”. (Picture – Jalvihar – Hyderabad. Credit: Cool Conqueror)
Jalvihar is a low budget hang out because the fare collected for adults is only rupees 150, which is very less when compared to other water parks like Mount opera and Ocean park present in the city. Jalvihar opens at 9:30 in the morning and closes at 6:30 in the evening. Ohri’s is present just beside Jalvihar, which is an additional attraction to the place. It has totally five pools, which include a special pool for ladies and kids. The rides are really exciting and worth riding. Crazy ride is one, which is really exciting and worth trying. Other rides are also interesting. Special care is taken in maintaining the rides. A special volunteer is made available to guide the people in the rides. Various stalls like balloon shooting and ring throw, with mind blowing prizes, are driving the visitors nuts.
Coming to the transport point of view, there are many RTC buses, which ply to necklace road. Also, a local train is available to this place. Andhra Pradesh tourism department has included Jalvihar in city tour special package. Jalvihar management is operating an exclusive shuttle service between NTR gardens and Ranigunj free of cost. Sarath, a student of Murthy institute of technology and Sciences says, “Jalvihar is pretty cheap because I spend just two hundred rupees on my visit to this place”.
Jalvihar is designed by the popular Arihant construction company, which has constructed various water theme parks all over the world. The entire place is constantly under CCTV surveillance. Change rooms and lockers are also made available at a lower price. Special suits made up of nylon are made available to the visitors at lower cost. Wave pool is the most exciting and cool. Special volunteers are made available to control the crowd and accidents. Jalvihar provides a good platform to organize corporate parties and family parties. The fares collected for organizing a corporate or family party is rupees 300 per head, which includes pick up and drop facility with a heavy meal in the afternoon and snacks in the evening. The rain dance in the park is under maintenance and is supposed to re-open in October ‘09.
Though the place is maintained well, the discipline in the staff members is missing. The staff behavior with the visitors is completely weird; they start quarreling with each other in providing the facilities to the visitors. The stall owners in the place are very rude. Jalvihar has one main disadvantage i.e. there is no good food available inside the park. The only food available is Dosa and Chinese, which is damn boring at times. If people want to satisfy their food needs, they need to walk all the way to Ohri’s or Eat Street. Jalvihar is not an exception for the love birds. The notorious lover couples are disturbing the environment of the theme park.
On the whole, Jalvihar is a place, which is worth enjoying with family and friends. The place is really good with great ambiance and rich atmosphere. Children will surely enjoy the water rides and water pools. On a scale of ten this place can easily be rated eight.
