The cultural events started with invocation, an orison dance for the blessings of Lord Ganesha “Ganesha Dheemahi” by SR-I children. It was a fusion of classical dance and vibrant music. The competitions were organized for the POWERGRID family. 14 teams across India took part in the competitions. The teams were representing their respective regions. All the teams were winners in the Intra Regional Cultural Function conducted all over India. “The cultural meet is firstly organized at the intra region level and then the team wins in this represents the region in the Nationals”, rant Anita,  participant. The 14 teams were:

  1. Sarna Parv- Eastern Region –I.
  2. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan- Eastern Region – II.
  3. Mela Milan Mela – Eastern Region Load Dispatch Center.
  4. Sath Beheno ke Hein Saat Sur – North Eastern Region.
  5. Terah Tali Nritya – Northern Region – I.
  6. Dogri Lok Nritya – Northern Region – II.
  7. Tarang – Northern Region Load Dispatch Center.
  8. Ghoomar Nrtiya – Corporate Center.
  9. Kargattam – Southern Region- I.
  10. Mavelinadu – Southern Region – II.

  12. Folk Tradition of Maharashtra – Western Region – I.
  13. Katputali Nritya – Western Region – II.
  14. Lok Nritya – Western Region Load Dispatch Center.

Each team was given 10 minutes to perform. Few had regional-traditional forms and few others were theme oriented. The themes like Save Water, Save the Earth and Each One Teach One Empower India drew in the audience to think and act on them. The dance by SR-I “Kargattam” and “Katputali Nritya” grabbed the highest attention. The applause reached the skies. “The dancers were vigorous on the dais. They portrayed the dance form exactly the way professionals do. Imagine 12 to 15 year olds balancing circle surfaced bowls on head for more than 8 minutes continuously and performing various other gymnastics? They were dazzling throughout the performance. All the dances had a theme behind it, ushering a different configuration. Albeit minute mistakes and perturbs all the performances were equally worthy”, enjoined Manasa.

To add up to the prodigious dances and exhibition, Laser Shows were also orchestrated. Two Laser Shows were devised. The first laser show demoed the success story of POWERGRID in the Two Decades and the awards and rewards it won. The Second laser show was an outstanding master piece pictured. To testify the Unity in Diversity, Integrity and Brotherhood among the Sub Stations and families under POWERGRID Oscar Award Winner A.R.Rahman’s “Maa Tujhe Salaam” was played in the back ground and the laser beams are so stirred according to the beats. It left all the audience awestruck.
