Located at the outskirts of the city near Kompally, Malla Reddy College is quite popular for its peaceful surroundings. Especially, during the mornings, students of the college say that the soothing view of the abundant trees and the chilly breeze makes them feel enthusiastic and this is the driving force behind them going to college everyday. As the saying goes, ‘All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy’, one has to also consider the fact that, though studies lay a foundation to one’s future, having fun also is very essential in a student’s life. And when the college you belong to is Malla Reddy, the first thing that comes into mind is the amazing  canteen located just a few steps away from the entrance of the college.

The canteens are not only the perfect hide-out for the students but also a place where one can find delicious food items like the famous ‘veg-manchuria’, ‘paneer puff’, ‘chicken burger’ and so on. The new ‘Coffee shop’ has also been a cool place to hang out with friends, provided the lecturers don’t spot you around especially when they come for a coffee themselves. The ‘college lawn’ has been an all time favourite place for students to chill out after the regular lectures.

And for all those, who like to play it safe, the college buses have proved to be the perfect spot, where nobody would even bother to check.  Aarti Agarwal, a student from the college, says, “Bunking has always been on my schedule ever since I was a junior and when you are in a group, the place doesn’t matter at all, we have fun anyways.”

On a Weekday like Saturday, Students of the Engineering branch are found standing in large numbers at the main entrance of the college inorder to get into an auto and  catch the latest movies at ‘Cine Planet’ which happens to be the nearest multiplex to the college. Whereas the students from the other branches like Pharmacy, MBA and biotechnology tend to bunk in lesser numbers.  It is a known fact that boys seem to enjoy each and every moment of their life, unlike girls who seem to concentrate more on studies. This comparison is apt for the students belonging to MRCP where the guys are rarely found on Mondays and Saturdays. In a recent survey conducted in the branch of pharmacy, girls have scored the highest percentage of attendance like 93 % , whereas the highest attendance for boys is 79%.  Aadhya Reddy, a student from the college says, “Sometimes it gets really frustrating to attend college regularly especially on Thursdays and Fridays when there is no labs and only theory classes. That’s when we decide to bunk college and take a walk in the nearby woods or chill out at the canteen, If the bunk is Pre-planned then, it obviously has to be watching a new movie. So this means that we skip almost 5 to 6 days of college in a month keeping in mind the strict rules of our college and the fact that attendance is a very important aspect as we cannot write an exam without appropriate attendance.”

In contrast to this,  Kavya Rao, a student from one of the engineering branch says, “My attendance is something one would not want to know about because i hardly attend college for that matter. We usually bunk in a group of both guys and girls so when we are absent, the class is all empty. It is only during the labs that we are required to attend college and the latest trend goes like…’If an Engineering student has no back log, He/She is not cool’. But well, everyone has their own ‘Fundas’ in life and mine is something like what I just said.”

Apart from this, there are students who love to have extra fun, and ‘Runway 9’ is one such place where one can have a blast with friends. ‘Go-karting’, ‘Skating’, and ‘Bungee-jumping’ are some of the things available and it also happens to be a nice venue for hosting birthday parties too. The inumerable ‘Dhabas’ located on main road including the most famous ‘Zee-Dhaba’ find regular customers from the college. Mouth-watering food, spectacular surroundings, friends… What else can one ask for? A few kilometeres away from Kompally, one can also visit the neighbouring gardens and the famous ‘Dola-ri-Dhani’, where time seems to literally fly, unlike in a class room during a leacture.

When it comes to bunking, students of Malla Reddy College never run out of ideas. Tina D’souza, another student of the college says, “Watching a movie or going to a dhaba turns out to be really boring at times and that’s when we take a walk in the woods and have our ‘mini-adventure’, which turns out to be really fun. After we attain our degree, all we take with us are these few beautiful moments that we share with friends and not the regular lectures.”

Bunking the college doesn’t only mean having fun with friends, one can also spend time with their seniors in order to break the ice between the juniors and seniors. All the latest gossips, trends and everything else that makes a student’s life interesting play an important role in boosting up one’s confidence level and eventually helps in developing a positive attitude towards college life.
