“Silence is silver but music is gold”. Music isn’t just an arrangement of sounds but an art which touches, moves and inspires people. Music is like a drug ingested through the ears. It is a passion for most and addiction for many, especially youngsters who prefer rock and heavy metal music which brings out a lot of energy in them. There are also many individuals who derive a lot of pleasure from the melody alone and not just the lyrics. Each one has their own interpretation of music as it varies according to the listener’s choice and perspective. Some call it the ‘Language of Souls’, while others say it is the best way of expressing human emotions in audio. Besides, Music has always been a favorite past-time since many generations. It heals the heart and flows from heaven to the soul !It has come a long way and with the growing variations in music one cannot help but admire the magic it creates and the satisfaction it provides to one’s ears.
Naming the different genres of music isn’t an easy task at it involves a huge list which include Acoustic, Jazz, Bossa Nova, Blues, Club, Commercial, Gothic, Hip-hop, Rap, Latin, Bhangra,Trance, Urban, Mambo, Pop, Techno and many more. The modern music shows a lot of diversity with the advancements made in technology. The modern ‘Contemporary’ music being the most popular among the youth.

These days many youngsters have tremendous opportunities to express their talent in music. Be it Singing, Composing or Playing an instrument, our state provides many platforms for young people to showcase their talent. This not just helps them to prove themselves but also inspires many others to do the same. One cannot deny the fact that majority of the teenage students listen to music mainly because they it influences and captivates their mind and also touches them emotionally.
In a survey conducted at Malla Reddy College Of Pharmacy, many agreed to the fact that music has become an integral part of their lives . Ramya, a student from the same college says, “I die for music, i just can’t live without it. It brings me out of depression and as i stay in the hostel, Music is my only companion and it never makes me feel alone, I prefer metal music as it brings out some fresh energy in me. It has become like a drug to me”.
Guitar is one instrument which has become a passion for most of the teenagers. Many people are coming forward to learn guitar because students especially with their hectic academic schedule need some time off, and in colleges today students hardly have extra curicular activities. Hema, a student from the EEE brach says, “It has been a dream for me to learn guitar since childhood but i could never make it, now its like a dream come true for me, though i’m not a professional guitarist I can play few songs, my passion towards music has made me attend guitar classes”.
In this generation none hate music as it always helps people in relaxing and youngsters are lost in their own world of music. When it comes to music how can one forget the legendary Micheal Jackson and our very own AR Rehman, their dedication towards music is applauded all over the world. Today even after MJ death people have the same craze for his music like ever before.

Music has many variations and the trend keeps changing every now and then. In the late 80’s classical music was pretty famous, in the 90’s rock was preferred and these days hip hop is very famous. Music reaches out to most of the youngsters mainly because of the lyrics of the song, they connect well with emotions. Though the trend keeps changing the passion and love for music has always been the same.
