Rahman Concert 01

This article is a compilation of the works of Candy Floss and Insanity Personified put together. Professions generally define individuals but individuals themselves happen to define professions in very few instances! These great personalities bear testimony to Aamir Khan’s dialogue in the runaway success, Taare Zameen Par, in which he says, “Duniya mein aise heere paida hote hai, ki Bhagwan ne unhe chamakne ke liye hi bheja hai!” If cricket was redefined by Viv Richards or Don Bradman or by our very own Tendulkar, dance by Michael Jackson,... Read→

Celebrations Galore 01

“I’m proud to be an Indian! Not only because it is a country of rich tradition, heritage and culture but also for the fact that it is a huge secular state giving equal importance to all religions and festivals! And the best part of it being that we, the students, are given loads of holidays for every festival,” gushes Smrithi, another regular college goer, who finds her college extremely boring, of Hi-tech College of Engineering and Technology. From Nag Panchami to Navratri to Navroz, from Eid–ul–fitr to Easter, from Raksha Bandhan to... Read→

Saying no to plastic 01

September 12, 2009 was indeed a day of significance for the youth of Hyderabad. No, it wasn’t for the recently concluded internal examinations or the Ramadan Special Happiness Sale at Hyderabad Central! Nor, was it for the fact that Josh was running to full houses in the very first week of it’s release! Well, no prizes for guessing, the youngsters of the ‘City of Pearls’ had come forward to hosting a ‘No Plastic’ Rally on the occasion of the International ‘No Plastic’ Day on the 12th of September, 2009. Practical labs 06

The four walls of the dark classroom, the same old rickety benches, theory examinations, thick books (err… guides and ‘all in ones’ to be specific), the incessant yawns, the monotonous lectures, the heart pumping Question – Answer sessions, the dreaded surprise tests and assignments – can’t a student’s life be any better!? Well, then one is definitely mistaken to think so! Fortunately, the Indian education system still continues to give it’s due respect to Practical Laboratories and Practical Examinations! August 15th of every year, is like any other day for most of the youngsters  – the best part of it is the day being a holiday! Most of the teenagers stick to being ‘couch potatoes’ and probably keep switching between channels telecasting Rang De Basanti and Swades! The enthusiastic among the lot, take a step forward and perhaps head to the most happening pubs in town and groove to the Independence Day Bash by DJ Suketu or DJ Eeshan, along with other party animals! “Apart from the flag hoisting and the Independence Day Parade,... Read→

Talk about being brand conscious. Talk about trusted names in Hyderabad. Talk about being desi! When it comes to sweets, it is the mouth watering Pulla Reddy Sweets; when it comes to clothing, it is the ready made Chermas garments store; when it comes to footwear, it is India’s largest footwear retailer, Bata (well-known for its Rs. 99.99 and Rs. 999.99 rates) and when it comes to stationery, it is the multi-storied Himalaya Book Depot stores. Last but not the least, when it comes to bakers and confectioners, without hesitation, we zero down... Read→

July 10, 2009, 6:12 a.m.:  This was the first time that  Anagha  had ventured out on a morning walk to fetch packets of milk, thanks to her dear milkman who didn’t deliver them at home that morning!   She had her ipod to give her company so it wasn’t a burden afterall! She was just walking past the Jalagam Vengal Rao Park, close to her place, when she saw a group of people, mostly senior citizens, in their shorts, standing in a circle and roaring with laughter. The very sight of them brought a smile on her face! After... Read→
