So, summers are here! It’s the time of the year when lemonade replaces most of the water bottles! Now, when the season changes, there’s one question that comes up in our mind, “What should I wear now?” Well, read on to find the answer!

On the turn of a new season, most of us don’t approve of what our wardrobe has. Everywhere you see filmstars and models, wearing beautiful things which are usually not worth the price tag they come with. You look into your closet and everything looks like you’ve worn it a dozen times. What do you do? Revamp! Summer means bright, sunny, tanning, and of course, being cool when it’s all hot around you. It’s that time of the year when you get out of your thick leather and fur jackets and get into those short, easy and cooler clothes. This summer has a lot to offer in terms of fashion, be it for men, women, or teenagers!

Get funky with flip-flops! Credits : Blending Words

Ladies, heading out to party on a summer night? Get your hands on a toga dress; long or short, the choice is yours. Pair it up with a pair of flats, stilettos or even wedges, and you be will a complete head turner without putting in much effort, the dress does all the talking. Going pink and cute is ‘in’ this season so don’t be afraid to get that pink frock with some bow or even hearts on it, flaunt a little love and go girly! Put away dark, depressing shades and bring in the bright in the fruity ones. Lemon, raspberry, papaya; all these soft shades are ‘in’ so make sure you get some of these! One of the trends that haven’t faded with the winters is animal prints. They’re still popular, so get bold, get those funky prints! Semi-formal is the way to go this party season.

If you’ve got it, flaunt it! Short skirts, shorts, capris, they’re all in! Prints are in, so don’t be afraid to combine and experiment with them, and create a new and confident look. When it comes to accessories, go bold! Every girl has an accessory in her wardrobe which has a bold, not-to-be-missed look to it. Don’t be afraid to wear it this season, whether it’s a chunky necklace, a bright bag, or funky heels. Another unavoidable accessory are sunglasses! One cannot do without them. They are available in different colours, styles, and shapes. With variety available, you can create different looks depending upon the occassion.

Ashruti Shah, a Fashion Designing student at NIFT, says, “Asymmetrical short haircuts, aviators, shorts in funky colours, loose and sheer shirts, flip flops, cotton frocks etc. are all the right choice this summer! These days even harems with short tops are new and popular.”

<img src="http://www.vidyouth.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/02-Crocs-Courtesy-Ankit-Madaan-300x133.jpg" alt="Crocs!
Zainab Malik, from St. Francis College says, “Well, the word ’summer’ sounds so cool and easy to pronounce, but its effects are not so cool and easy! While its summer, the most important thing is to keep the colours in mind. Bright, sober and light colours work well during the season. Go with green, yellow, orange, pink and white. I basically avoid dark colours.”

Afshan Ahmed, a student at Hamstech Institute of Fashion Designing, says, “More of the prints, floral skirts teamed up with tank tops will rock and then you have linen finely stitched pants. Jeans are a big no for me this summer.”
Deepika Phakke, Placement Ambassador at BMS III, St Francis College says, “White is THE colour of the season, for it brings not just mental peace in this scorching sun, but is also simple, comfortable and hip. Could be as simple as wearing white tee shirts or white cropped pants, accessorised appropriately so as to not miss out on the fashion factor. Summer collections at Splash, Wardrobe, Globus etc. have never disappointed me! So you don’t really have to watch out what you wear this summer because ‘keeping it simple’ is the mantra this season!”

<img src="http://www.vidyouth.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/05-Kurti-and-Jeans-one-of-the-most-comfortable-and-popular-trends-Courtesy-Blending-Words-170x300.jpg" alt="Kurti and Jeans, one of the most comfortable and popular trends. Credits : Blending Words

Kainath Saima, a homemaker, says, “Simplicity is a sign of elegance, but by nature every woman wants to keep in step with fashion. Since summer is the season of flowers, floral prints will add some cheer to the wearer. One can wear bright colours in ganji and pair it with shorts and flip flops for casual wear and short skirts are best for parties. People who don’t wear western clothes should go with soft cotton or linen suits.”

Now, coming to guys, bright shades, checks, and the evergreen t-shirts are in. Different types of caps are available, so pick them depending upon what suits your style. Dull colours, millitary shades, browns are all out. Experiment with colours, but make sure you don’t overdo it and end up looking funny. For college students, shoes can take a backseat for a while and slippers can come in. Many brands have introduces new kind of footwear exclusively for men.

Ankit Madaan, a Journalism student from TIAS, Indraprastha University, New Delhi, says, “Well, I’m planning to wear some light shades of pink shirts or sky blue tees because pink is in, and blue makes me feel cool! As it is, the world cup fever is on as well, so ‘bleeding blue’ will be my mantra for kicking the starting stone for summers! It’s a good idea to equip your closet with a few casual t-shirts, as well as a few formal shirts. Ensure that the items are made out of light, breathable materials-such as cotton or linen. Also, wear shirts that flatter your skin tone. Crocs are my all time favourite summer slippers! Try clubbing your clothes with different colours of crocs! Team up suitably, and there you are, all set for a summer splash!”

Musharaf Hussain, graduating from St. Mary’s and Business Development Manager-e2labs, says, “When it comes to summer I only prefer light colours in clothing like white, cream, light blue, dusty brown in cotton or linen which also give you a elegant and royal look and shades are always on when I’m out. When it comes to a haircut, I would suggest it to be short and spikey rather than long hair. Footwear in leather would be irritating and uncomfortable, so it is better to go with converse, or anything which protects your feet from the heat and is comfortable at the same time.”

<img src="http://www.vidyouth.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/04-Go-casual-Courtesy-Akram-Hussain-220x300.jpg" alt="Go Casual. Credits : Akram Hussain

Many colleges have restrictions when it comes to clothing. So here are opinions of some college students as to what they plan to wear this summer.

Safa Faheem, a student of Shadan College, says, “Summer reminds me that I desperately need to shop! Come summers, white is the way to go! Layered stuff, colours, scarves, stoles, shoes, canvases, tight clothes and leather items, all need to be ditched this season! I’m going to go for colours that are soothing and cooling, like yellow and light blue. Flip flops are in and very comfortable. Accessories should be limited, but goggles are highly important, can’t do without them in summer! Metallic shades and smokey make up is a total no. Shorts, capris, sleeveless and even micro sleeved tops are good but make sure what you’re wearing is loose and airy. Button down shirts are my personal favourite.”

White is the way to go, soft and cool! Credits : Blending Words

Harsha Khandelwal, a student of St. Francis College for Women, says, “Personally I like the colours white and orange, and they’re in too. A plain tee or a light coloured one on jeans teamed up with a traditional dupatta is very casual, yet cool.”
Mehreen Saman, a student of Sultan Ul Uloom College of Pharmacy, says, “I’ll go for casuals, wearing cool soothing colours like white, blue, and other light colours. If something Indian, I’ll go for cotton or linen.”

Gyandeep Kaur, pursuing BBA from Avalon Aviation says, “According to me, fashion not only makes a woman look trendy, but also improves her self confidence. I check out almost everywhere to get for the kind of stuff. Places like malls, exhibitions and of course at markets like Charminar, Sultanbazaar and Sindhi colony too because I don’t want to miss all the funky things out there!”

Nasra Fatima, a student of Sultan Ul Uloom College of Pharmacy, says, “Well at least at the college I go to, most girls dress casual. I would just think simple and casual with a touch of classy, maybe a cute white flowy top and some sandals or maybe some cute flats.”

With so many new trends, and a little bit of creativity, one can make a style statement for sure this summer. So, open your wardrobe, or go shopping if you need to! Remember, some of the most stylish people around, are wearing some version of the same thing all the time. True style has nothing to do with clothes and everything to do with how you wear them.

It was not what could be called an ideal day for partying. The sun was hot outside; the room was sultry inside… But who cares!! It was a day to remember throughout their life for the juniors. After all it was their fresher’s party!! The second years in Sri Devi Women’s Engineering College came together to host the fresher’s party for the first years, welcoming them into their family.

‘‘After a lot of arguments and discussions with the Principal, we finally agreed on separate parties for each branch”, says Kehkasha Khanam, the representative of CSE, SWEC.

Each branch was allotted a seminar hall in the college for the party.

The college came alive with colors over the weekend as ECEA, EIE and IT hosted their party on Sunday, the 4th of April while CSE, EEE , ECE gave it on the 5th.

”The party preparations started about 2-3 weeks prior to it. Organizing the whole event was tiring as well as fun”, says Sindhu Swarna of CSEA, SWEC.

The campus bustled with activity as party posters were put up all over the campus. Invitations were drawn and banners hanged as the D-day drew near.

<img class="size-medium wp-image-11401 " src="http://www.vidyouth.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/venue-300x175.jpg" alt="Esperanza- The Party Venue.
<img class="size-medium wp-image-11656" src="http://www.vidyouth.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/banner-300x254.jpg" alt="Banners around the campus.
‘‘The cost of the entire party was borne by us. We didn’t have any help from the college management. Even the setting up of tents, the hall’s decorations, all had to be taken care by us”, says Shravanthi Kovur of EIE, SWEC.

The day finally came when all the CSE juniors got traditional by draping themselves in a sari and dropped into Esperanza, the CSEA’s fresher’s party!

”Many juniors and seniors were against the dress code, but it had to be followed, being the college’s tradition!!”, says Sujatha Burigen of SWEC.

”It was nice to see all the girls in saris that day. Nowadays saris have become a rarity among women, we wanted all the girls to go down to our traditional roots at least on this day”, says Mrs. Y. Rajashree, Principal of Sri Devi women’s college.

The CSE party started at 11:00 in the morning. The start of the party was marked by the cutting of cake by the department head. Later, as the party progressed the juniors had a great time walking on the ramp.

‘‘We wanted it to be their day entirely. All the games, Dances were for and done by the juniors”, says Nanditha Reddy, CSEA, SWEC.

Each of the junior was given a candy, which was supposed to be given to their favorite senior. The senior with maximum number of candies was adjudged as the best senior at the end.

<img class="size-medium wp-image-11397" src="http://www.vidyouth.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/girls-in-traditional-attire-300x213.jpg" alt="Dress code for the party-Saree.
Games like fast texting, find your partner were held for the juniors. All these events set aside; the main attraction in the party was the jukebox!

The seniors and juniors forgot all their differences as they danced to the mixes of DJ Ankit Sharma.

“It was nice to see such an enthusiastic crowd! The level of Euphoria amongst the girls was pretty infectious “, quips Ankit Sharma.

”We had an awesome time! Best was the jukebox, but we just felt bad that it lasted only for an hour or so”, says Amulya Nayar, a junior of CSE, SWEC.

The end of the jukebox saw the girls breaking up for lunch.

”The food was delicious. Added to it, all of us were starving, because of all the dancing. So, we literally hogged the food”, says Priyanka Reddy, a First year, SWEC.

All the branches hosting their party on Monday were provided with tents by the college management for lunch.

The girls reassembled in the party venue once again for few more rounds of ramp walk and games. About 12 girls were short listed from the juniors who were made to walk the ramp once again. These 12 girls were given a situation to enact on. The best 6 amongst them were finalized for the titles.

‘‘The situations were pretty funny. I had to propose to one of my senior and have her convinced to accept it”, says Pranathi Reddy.

‘‘We judged them based on their performance and behavior today. We had an introductory session with the juniors a few days prior to the party, wherein we got to know how talented each junior was”, says Nikitha Merrylene, one of the judges.

The titles were finally announced to a lot of cheering from the juniors. Some of the titles were Miss. Esperanza, Miss Congeniality, Miss. Panache, Miss Showstopper and Miss Rapunzel.

”I was Miss Hair the last year, in my fresher’s party. So, I gave away the award to my junior this time”, beams Srinidhi Bhandaru, a second yearer.

‘‘The gifts given to us were awesome!! I was adjudged Miss. Talent for which I was given a cute stuffed toy! I love it”, gushes Sujitha Rao, one of the title winners.

<img class="size-medium wp-image-11398" src="http://www.vidyouth.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/6-finalists-300x205.jpg" alt="The 6 finalists of the day.
Proposing the vote of thanks on behalf of all the juniors, Prasanna C, the first year’s representative gushes,’ I never had a proper interaction with my seniors. I just knew a few of them. But now, I feel all my seniors are my good friends. I would love to thank all my seniors for such an awesome party, which would be forever cherished by each and every junior, here. We promise to give you an equally enthralling farewell! Thank you seniors! Love you all”.

The party ended on a happy note as all the juniors went home with a complimentary gift.

‘‘We didn’t want any of them to go home unsatisfied. The happiness was evident in their faces when they opened their goody bags”, says Monica May.

‘‘We had many differences at the time of organizing, many words were exchanged! But today, going by the juniors reaction, we feel all the pain we took was worth it’’, says a happy but tired Sindhu Swarna.

The beam of laughter, the tears of sorrow, the hard work, appreciation and criticisms and then the final countdown begins for the most awaited day.

On the 12th of April, 2010 C.M Engineering College crossed another milestone – it was its Annual day celebration –Triumph 2010(The feel of joy).

“Triumph” is not just a name, but a brand in itself which relates to hard work, enthusiasm, high

spirits & above all the meaning to achieve a sense of victory, not just as an individual but being as a team & be a victor throughout our life.

Initiation

“The people carry the kind of warmth that’s wonderful & unique, a bright & happy outlook that’s such a joy to share. The carry their own sunshine with them everywhere the go, it makes them very special and extra nice to know. That is the specialty of CMECians” stated one of the anchors G.Keerthi Sharma of ECE 4th year from CM Engineering College.

Dignitaries of the Eve

The evening was initiated by calling Shri CH Malla Reddy, chairman of Malla Reddy Group of Institutions; Chief guest : Mr.G Bala Kishore, director of factories of Andhra Pradesh; Guest of honour: Mr.K Prbhakar Rao, director of capital IQ Information Systems Pvt. Ltd; Prof. R. Madan Mohan & Dr. Konaraih, director of Academics MRGI; G. Ram Reddy, director of administration; Principal Dr.Talla Siva Prasad & AO Retd.Col. Sita Rama Rao on to the dias.

The lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dias marked the beginning of the evening program.

Throw Ball Team being awarded by the chief guest

Prize Distribution

The students were honored with prizes for various academic activities such as the toppers of every branch of the year were given certificates. Also trophies were given for non academic activities (sports) – Throw ball, Cricket, Table Tennis, Basket Ball, etc. The chairman enlightened the gathering with his valuable words. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries too shared their thoughts and spoke about the overall development of a student that can be achieved not just by being excellent in academics but also in other cultural activities and encouraged the students with their challenging words for the coming up final exams.

Organization

There were 2 projectors kept in locations so that people in the middle and back rows could see the plays unhindered. The projections also helped close-up shots that caught the emotions of actors and dancers very well.

A fluid narration was another hall-mark of the event. The text of narration before each story was well written. The anchoring of the evening was done by Keerti Sharma from ECE 4th year, Gaurav Kaushal from ANE 4th year, Preetham Raghu from ANE 3rd year & Shashank Avvaru from 1st year.

“They did it so clearly with expressions that beat many masters of ceremonies you would see on many other award ceremonies”, says Sonali Verma, a 3rd year student from CM Engineering College. The narration filled up the gaps in the story. Also before every play or dance started, there was a narration explaining it.

The arrangements for the function were from A to Z .

EVENTS

Welcoming Performance

The first performance was a classical dance by Sri Vidya and group of seven girls . “Our dance will be portraying different forms of Lord Ganesha by students of various streams like ANE, CSE & MBA”, says Sri Vidya of CM Engineering College.

The choreography of this dance was par excellence. It was a flamboyant, flowing and full-filling performance. The first dance exceeded all expectations and just went through the roof. It set a very high level of expectation for all other plays and dances that followed.

The program continued with the second performance done by Alikheya & group. “We are gonna do Bollywood salsa & freestyle on medley of 3 songs”, says Nisarg Shah of

CSE 3rd year, who choreographed one of the song Zoobie Doobie for his group. “It took us three days to practise. College provided the choreographers from outside. It was Raju sir who helped to choreograph most of the dances for tonight”, says Durga Aduri of CSE 3rd year from CM Engineering College.

Skit

It was followed by a skit –“Em Maya Chesave” by IT group which took the audience through four years of B-tech life in just 4 minutes. The hallmark of the story was the characters. They were made up so well, spoke so well, and depicted their emotions so well. Dialogues were also very good. The play made everybody hold their stomach.

Tribute to Michael Jackson

Then there was the highlight of the event, the dance performance by six students giving a tribute to MJ. “We love MJ” chorused everyone in the group. “He is still living in our hearts”, says P.S Pavan. “Its gonna be the best performance of the evening”, says the lead of the group Srinivas Pradeep confidently. He also says, “MJ is my true inspiration. We are going to give the deadly dangerous performance including stunts. It took us 10-15 days to practice it all.”

The performance was truly worth of a standing ovation. Every step left the audience in awe. Each step needs to be seen to be enjoyed. Words will just be limiting to describe about this group.

After the breath taking performance there was again a group dance by ten students of ECE & CSE. “Its all about B tech life and at the ending we’ll show how much we care and love our parents ”, says Anurag Agarwal from ECE of CM Engineering College. Raju sir choreographed the performance in three days.

Solo Performances

There were also few solo dance performances by Vimesh on “Upananta ni prema”. “My love is gone “ by Vishwanath of IT 4th year. Anil kumar studying MBA also did a solo performance imitating various stars from tollywood. G.Harish from IT 3rd year says, ” I’m going to give a solo dance performance on 200 watts which will be very stylish and western style which I self choreographed.”

Folk Dance Performance

Then there was a folk dance “Thayyum Thattayi” as well. “We are a group of ten students including five girls and five boys. It is choreographed by Srinivas sir”. Uszhama & S.Hamroz say, ”It a lambadi village dance, a mass kinda” when asked to present their view for their dance. While D.Sumalata describes the dance by saying, ”here the boys tease girls in a town but still the girls who are wearing all types of accessories are bold enough to take care of themselves”. “It is not only done by B-tech students but our group also includes students from MBA , MCA and CSE”, informs P. Anil Kumar of CM Engineering College.

The cheering was audible from east to west and north to south. Students applauded in the sync. of the songs. It was the performance enjoyed by everyone present. The cacophony of “ONCE MORE” was only heard at the end of this performance. It was truly a rocking band performance by the students of CMEC.

Ramp Walk

The evening ended with Ramp Walk . Students of CMEC with different attires were seen walking on the ramp. “I’m going to show the traditional culture of India”, says Suman Chandra from CMEC. Same was said by K.Diksha, R.Rajesh, Saif Ulla Khaan when asked for their form of attire. Whereas there was also western culture shown by the students like Md. Alha Ulhah, T.Hemanth. T.Hemanth says, “I’m in first year mechanical and since its my first time so I’m very excited. The evening and arrangements are really cool so I’m just looking forward for the eve”. R.Sujeet says, “I’m going to be different from all showing off my Hip –hop style, I like the DJ and will be doing Yo-YO style on ramp” .
End of the Celebration

”The time flew so fast. Alas it is not from my DVD player.

I cannot rewind it and watch it again” quips Sonali Verma of IT 3rd year from CM Engineering College.

The students, teachers, principal, staff who provided the concepts, all need to be congratulated for such a splendid show. True to the Principal’s words, everybody in the college has been constantly learning, as otherwise such a show is not possible.

The program was highly appreciated by every single person and indeed everyone who is a part of C.M Engineering College are proud to have another feather added to their cap of success.

The feeling of Sunday is the same everywhere, heavy, melancholy, interlude, a day for resting! It is the day when we usually indulge in our favorite pastimes…we cherish this day. But, all thanks to the rather ridiculous ‘BANDHS’ declared by the parties demanding a separate TELANGANA state ,many of the engineering colleges have declared even Sundays as working days, leave alone giving the second Saturdays as holidays which is the usual practice.
After having to wake up everyday, early in the mornings in these cold days, even when there is the thought of just having five more minutes of sleep…just another five more minutes, but then realizing the fact that most usually these five minutes get extended to an hour,the driving force to just get up from the bed is the thought of that day of the week,Sunday, when there will be no urgency to wake up at all…no need to convince ourselves to wake up and also the thought that this will be the day when we can compensate for the entire weeks longing to wake up late. But, what if even on Sundays there is no repreive? When even on this day, right when the sun dawns, the day must begin, no lazy mornings, no waking up cozily??
“Every Sunday, I usually used to go to my guitar classes and work towards fulfilling my dream of playing the guitar perfectly on a big stage someday! I learn a part of the notes of a few tunes and then the next Sunday go to a higher level. Hence waiting for six long days to learn the next note, but this time it was all in vain, and going by the general talk that all the coming Sundays this semester will be working days, I probably have to forget my guitar classes for a while.” says Krishna Reddy, a student of Ace Engineering college.
Ananya, a student of V.J.I.T tells us, “Everything has two sides – the outside that is ridiculous, and the inside that is solemn. Obviously this decision to make even Sundays as working days is totally ridiculous! It is like taking a raincoat with you on a trip to the Sahara desert! It is an obvious fact that students will hate this. Then, what is the entire idea behind these Sunday classes? What is the use when students don’t even make an attempt to listen to the lecture and barely attend the college out of fear of action taken against them if they give the college a miss.”
In Ace engineering college, which is in Ghatkesar, there was a general feeling of frustration and annoyance when there was a notice in the classes on Saturday, informing that Sunday would be a working day and it will function just as any other week day. “No way am I going to come to this place tomorrow! The fact that I’ve attended three days out of the five working days this week is a great thing in itself for me! So there is no possibility of me turning up tomorrow!” says Sai Manoj. Another student of Ace, Vivek, seemed to be particularly exasperated just by this notice of Sunday being a working day. He bunked the rest of the classes on Saturday and also declared among his friends that he wont be coming the next day as well! Inspite of the fact that I have the option of just staying on the bed and sleeping cozily till 12, 1 or any time I want , I still wake up at sharp 6.00 and go to the ground to play cricket. These 3-4 hours of cricket is bliss for me, but what do I get after waiting for the entire week to go out in the ground and get my hands on that bat? A simple notice saying that college will function normally even on a Sunday, leaving all my plans toppled.
But between all this general wave of annoyance, Ramini Harsha seems to be unperturbed, “I simply don’t understadnd what is the big deal with Sunday being a working day? It is just that I have to carry my bag and go to college even tomorrow, that’s all! The fact that I will not have the tension of learning my lessons on my own is much better than having a lazy Sunday. Infact, I thank the college for being kind enough and conducting classes on Sunday as well, when they could have candidly declared it a holiday!” she said.
There are always two sides of a coin! Some are annoyed, others uncircumspect with Sunday as a working day!!

College Fests and Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology ( MJCET ) go hand in hand. The Biennial ADSOPHOS is a perfect example for the craze created by the fest at MJCET. The year 2010 too had its own bag full of events up for grabs. A reputed college, a picturesque campus and loads of energetic students make up the fest at the college we proudly call ” MJ” . The two day event comprised of a mosaic of events put together. The various engineering departments organised their own event approved by the faculty and department heads. To list out all the events,

The Information Technology Department( ITD) - BLITZKREIG 2010.

Civil Engineering Department- COLLOQUIUM 2010.

Electrical Engineering Department( EED ) – REFULGENCE 2010

Computer Science Engineering ( CSE ) – CYNOSURE 2010.

Mechanical Department- MECHALUTION 2010.

IEEE branch – STAC and SPAC 2010.

E cell – Festivity 2010

Robotix Club – ROBOLYMPIA 2010.

All the above fest had their own set of events. Both technical and Fun events combined

BLITZCREIG '10 .Credits :: Stupendous Calvin

together to provide a wonderful experience to the participants. Mounika Chintalpati, a second year student at SUCP, expresses jubilation at the fact that her college being so closely associated with MJ helps her to experience college fest of such magnitude. Mohd Zia Uddin, another second year student says, ” The extent to which the fest are conducted is mesmerising. The events conducted tested both physical and mental attributes of the students.” Each department had a plethora of events to their credit.

MOVIE MANIA ; Credits :: Stupendous Calvin

BLITZCREIG 2010 :: The IT department of MJCET probably organised the best Fest of the lot. It included events with cash incentives for the winners. The Fest comprised of Movie Mania, Programming/Debugging, Guess the Parts, Tech quiz . Paint ball, Poster Designing, Paper presentation, Loose screws, Beg Borrow Steal etc. Syed Qayam Hussain Razvi, a third year MJCET student and the organizer of Movie mania exclaims,” It was one hell of an experience managing the event. From publicizing the event to managing the participants was a difficult task.” He adds that it was a great learning experience. Nikhil Acharya, a young advertisement director was the judge for the event. He was enthralled by the ideas presented by the young student directors. The students felt extremely happy after interacting with Nikhil and gaining his piece of advice.

Crowd enjoying Movie Mania; Credits :: Stupendous Calvin

Beg Borrow Steal, was another event that invited loads of participants. It involved participants running crazily around the college in order to fulfill their task within the time limit. Maria Syed, an energetic SUCP second year student asserts, ” Beg Borrow Steal, BEST event of the lot.” She participated in a total of 6 events that included Clues Blues, Tech quiz, snap shot, loose screws, Role play and B.B.S. She finishes by saying that these two days were the best days of her graduation yet. Beg

Borrow Steal had its share of cheering crowds, both boys and girls alike.

The technical part of the fest consisted of competitions such as Debugging. Syed Mohd Abid Hussain, a second year student of IT at MJCET says, ” To use the knowledge obtained in class rooms in competitions is way better than toiling away in examinations” . The competition comprised of two parts , the written part followed by the practical application of the various programs in the laboratory.

CYNOSURE 2010 :: CYNOSURE organised by the Computer Sciences engineering department was another mouth watering sight. Events such as Bluff Master, Craft Arena, Quizzila, Raaz Mataaz, LAN gaming, Grafi’TEE’, Dreamer’s Day out and Mind Mania. The most acclaimed of the above events was Bluff Master (based on the TV show) and was appreciated by one and all. LAN gaming included computer games such as FIFA ‘09 and NASCAR.

STAC and SPAC 2010 :: The IEEE branch of MJCET organised STAC and SPAC which promised participation certificates for all the competitors. The events involved were Junkyard Wars, Role play, Hardware modelling, Mock Interviews,General quiz, Case Study, Ironic Safari and Paper Presentations. Many students hoped that their experiences in events such as Mock Interviews could help them in their quest to obtain employment after graduation. Mehdi Dashtee, a third year MJCET academic explains the same. He says, ” With a year left for graduation, it is of utmost importance to go through the process of interviewing and such events definitely help.”

COLLOQUIUM 2010 :: Civil Engineering true to its outdoor expectations organised the Cricket competition for all which stretched through most of the two days. The MJCET ground was divided into four equal halves. This allowed the organizers to conduct the event smoothly considering the fact that more than 30 teams participated totally. Syed Iqbal, a second year MJCET student, expressed satisfaction that he managed to reach the stage of the quater finals of the event in his first attempt.

ROBOLYMPIA 2010 :: The robotix club of MJCET managed to pull off a spectacular event

ROBOLYMPIA; Credits :: Stupendous Calvin

in the form of Robolympia. It had a series of events such as DEATH RACE, soccer with robots etc. The entry fee for the competitions was a meager 30 bucks. This lead to an increase in the competition.

FESTIVITY 2010 :: Another event with loads of events such as Business Quiz, Solution Presentation, 1 minute pitch, E- WARS, Hand Painting, Show and Tell and B quiz.REFULGENCE 2010, MECHALUTION 2010 were also a craze among the participants from different colleges.

To organize a fest of such magnitude requires abundance of hard work to achieve success. Syed Irfan Naqvi, a student member of the core committee of MJCET concerned with the organisation of the fest, lays emphasis on the coordination between the students and the faculty of the college. According to him, ” It takes months of planning to put together a fest that can satisfy the reputation of MJCET” . At the end of the day, he feels that the fest was a huge accomplishment and he congratulated his fellow organizers for a work well done.

Bob Dylan, an american singer and song writer once said, ” Colleges are like old-age homes except for the fact that more people die in colleges” . This quote sounds quite relevant in recent times with our education system keeps declining to new levels. But it is proved irrelevant by such enterprising activities in colleges nowadays. MJCET, on its part, always provides the student a platform to learn while they enjoy. April 9th & 10th 2010, will go a long way in justifying this reputation of the college we proudly say ” MJ” .

Farewells are always a hard affair for the graduating students who are obliged to leave their formal education and step into the real world. The separation from friends and teachers are a part of the parcel and to take up the responsibilities of the adult world, a duty. Varuna Jagganne shares her thoughts about the experiences as a student of O.U.C.W “Initially when I joined the college, I had a negative reaction to it but now I can’t believe that I spent three years here. I’m quite sad about leaving it, my friends and teachers. It has been quite a journey coming from a different country and the people here have helped me immensely to settle down and make it a home.” On winning the title of Miss O.U she said, “Winning the title was a huge surprise and a fantastic parting present. The people I met here and the memories that I’m taking away are going to go a long way in my life. I just want to thank everyone and specially my juniors who gave us such a wonderful party”.

The Dejected DJ Credits: Marianne Tulia

K. Priyanka seconds her, “I’m really going to miss all the teachers and friends that I met here. It is a really painful thing for me to leave this place which has given me so much. As for the farewell, it is the time when we enjoy with our classmates and juniors, which doesn’t happen very often. We greatly felt the absense of a dance performance by the juniors, however the farewell and the music by the DJ more that made up for it.”

As the most of the Bollywood goes with its share of controversies, tiffs and back stabbing and producer issues. This event was no exception in falling in line with those trends of Bollywood as well. Aditi Ashok shares her ordeal as an organizer, “It was a fun yet tedious experience which required putting in a humungous piece of soul into organizing it. We learnt that we have to get off our high horses to get money from people. The two-hour power cut taught us damage control.” Afroz Anjani, also regrets the power cut in the fun filled afternoon, “The power failure was a nuisance, otherwise it was the best party ever”.

Just as Bollywood moves on with its fortunes and errors, lessons learnt and bad memories packed. A genuinely heartfelt goodbye was conveyed with the banner which read ‘Phir milenge, Chalte Chalte’. A line from the famous SRK’s movie ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. Well, a filmi end to a filmi affair. What more to say than “Fare well in future” as Sravya Rao puts it.

College days are when the party is mostly outside the college. More so , when it comes to the Malla Reddy Group of Institutions!Keeping with that trend, students at MRCET campus make merry in some places more often than the others , the hangouts as people call them. So here they are …..the high-five hangouts at MRCET campus.

MRCET Canteen: Can you imagine life at a college without the canteen? The answer is no. Who wouldn’t want to be making spicy conversations with friends while relishing hot and spicy manchuria parallely? The MRCET canteen is top-notch when it comes to hanging out with the lot. It offers everything expected in a canteen including fresh juices. Little surprise then, that this place always has crowds thronging, be it the lunch break, or after-college hours. Compelling to the lecturers and students alike, this place is a sure-shot favorite for MRCET and MRIPS students with whom it is in vicinity.

the CMEC canteen credits:phoenix tear

CMEC Canteen: Another canteen!! The MRCET campus is a sprawling one, with 5 engineering and pharmacy colleges in it –MRCET,MRITC,CMEC,MRIPS and MRIM. More buildings spring up with each passing year. A single canteen would by no means be sufficient for such a huge campus. Hence, the second canteen. The CMEC canteen is very much like the MRCET one except that it looks and is old. It caters to the CMEC, MRITS and MRIM students mostly. The menu is the same as in the MRCET canteen. A major plus here is the chaat, which is a smash hit with the student community. Students lining up for their share of pani puri is a common sight in this canteen. Ramya.G, a third year ECE student of MRITS and a regular visitor to the canteen says,” Most of our free hours are spent in this canteen. We often come here without knowing what to do and end up having great discussions. It has become an integral part of our college life.”

The canteens are the “addas”, the most common places where crowds gather for a drink or meal or snack. Apart from these, there are some places that provide good ground to blabber away endlessly or to be more precise, kill time.

Nescafe: Mmmmm…a hub for the coffee freaks, Nescafe was opened in 2009 and is still going strong with a majority of the student community being caffeine-addicts. What can beat a cup of hot and steamy Cappuccino with friends? It is located beside the MRCET canteen and is crowded during lunch hours and after-college hours. “I love coffee and the fact that Nescafe has finally arrived at our campus is amazing. I don’t have to go the MREC campus for coffee anymore”, avers Aakanksha.P,another third year ECE student of MRITS, a coffee-lover who swears by Nescafe and considers it a great hangout spot. In contrast, the juniors have little to say about Nescafe as they are always in the fear of being caught by seniors.Sirisha.K , a first year MRITS student says,” We hardly go to Nescafe. Its too far away from our college and there are seniors hovering around at any time of the day. Why take the risk?” Nescafe , it seems, is purely for espresso fans!

The playground: The playground is generally where the action is. Be it the last-minute good byes to friends while boarding buses or the famous inter-college sports competitions or for that matter, the infamous fights, the ground bears it all! Students can be seen playing even during class hours at the cricket ground or the basket ball court which the ground has on one side. Bunking classes and playing games is hugely relevant in the campus. The ground is invariably adorned by students in some part or the other, thanks to some evergreen students – students who never end up inside the college. The ground and the path to the canteen always has guys having their chats or whiling away their time. Classes or no classes, this place is never out of reach or out of trend.

The fields: Oh yes! This is one place that might have been

missed out on the list of escapades of most of the student gangs. But some have fruitfully utilized the fields to their advantage, escaping into them for hours of bliss, away from the drone of the lectures, even while the farmers are seen chasing them off. The green fields make for an enchanting backdrop for a bunk. Some students even carry their cameras and phones to record their “Kodak” moments. This place isn’t the usual place where a lot of students hang out. This is one place you can go for solitude and peace….an ideal place to spend quality time with loved ones! K.Mrudula and D.Savya , students of MRITS and CMEC respectively, agree that the fields is one place they would go again and again with the gang, for a good time out!

These places are the top hangouts in and around the campus. Of course, apart from these the rocks around the Maisammaguda village make for an adventurous trip. And how can anybody forget CinePlanet or CP as it is called in the student circles ?It is one commercial centre that survives on the chunk of Malla Reddy and other near by college students, who loyally take to the multiplex every other Friday.

So, on-campus, when you are looking for a good place to talk and chat your day off with friends, these places are likely to be the ones you will find. If there is an important one that was missed, be kind enough to inform so that the student community is benefitted by another addendum to the list of hangouts!!

When asked about the fashion arena of people, nearly 70% of the teens would use their medulla oblongata for thinking about the actresses and models who are rated as top 10 hottest and sexiest females as per the international countdown… We are in the twenty first century – a time where people are most concerned about what Mallika Sherawat , Udita Goswami or John Abraham would be wearing (or would be doing….whatsoever ) in their next film..

A Beautiful Rangoli At The Entrance Credits: Engel Tatiana

As the youngsters of India are forgetting their roots of Indian tradition…the MBA department of Aurora’s Technological and Research Institute organized “ETHNIC DAY” in the campus on 13th March this year. The event named as SAMSKRUTI 2010, was conducted as a commemoration of the “forgotten Indian ethnicity”.

The event was announced three days before the actual ‘Red Letter Day’… Guys were casual about this as usual but girls!!! Whoa… all of them got very busy for those three days as though they had to prepare for their GATE exam. The entire lady lot of ATRI seemed to have spread to Koti for buying jewelry sets for their sarees and those of who had them already, bought themselves a matching set of bangles… Well 13th March happened to be a Saturday and so Friday afternoon became an undeclared holiday for most of the uninterested college going buddies.

Finally the ‘D’ day arrived. It was yet another wonderful morning with unusual routine to be followed when the white and blue dress code of ATRI got transformed into dhotis, kurta- pajamas and colorful sarees, half-sarees and ghaagras… It was a very pleasing sight for all the ATRI’ans as the two white buildings of CSE/IT and ECE/EEE were fuming with different shades of chromaticity. But yeah, there were some who wore jeans in spite of the notice circulated in all the classes. They buzzed in just to see their dhoti wearing friends breaking their necks to keep the three meter cloth intact with their bodies. And yes, there were girls too who struggled to walk, almost taking baby steps, with the six meters heavy worked sarees resting on their delicate waistline. What a day for the charged guys!

Tradition- Our Nation's Pride Credits: Anoop Teja

“It was SAMSKRUTI, I the day on which we were supposed to represent our culture through our attire. I dressed myself in a traditional KURTA-PYJAMA n started off to college with great enthusiasm. At the college I was glad to see all my fellow mates dressed in their respective traditional attire. It looked like a garden was blossoming with thousand colorful flowers. A great sight to watch! Then the first lecture of the day started. When looking out through the door, my eyes fixed upon three Angels who were dressed in sarees and to my surprise they were my classmates. Then I told myself that it was one of the greatest sights I had ever seen. It was the same college with same students, but what made it special was SAMSKRUTI… It was one of d most memorable days I would like to cherish…” expresses Akram Khaleem.

The event began with two ladies from the MBA department carrying “bonaal” to welcome our Director, Dr Prabhu G. Benakop. To everyone’s astonishment, he was brought in to the venue (CSE/IT block) on a bullock cart. Enlightening the students with the forgotten customs of India marked the first priority for the anchors. Then was an elegantly performed Kuchipudi dance, followed by folk songs of Andhra Pradesh, thereby giving SAMSKRUTI 2010 a mighty start. “A nation with vibrant colors was witnessed at ATRI. It was like a Vedic pathashala with the traditional clothing. I could really feel the aesthetic values of different ethnic groups. We are proud that we represented the nation’s culture.” says S. Aplava Karthik.

The anxiety of people trying to stand out was soon overcome as they got a chance where they could grab people’s attention…i.e. a traditional contest for the title of “Mr. and Miss. Ethnic “was conducted wherein the battlers had to go through different rounds (similar to those of Miss. India and Mr. India…except the part where you have to show your skin).

Kerela's Moiniattam dance Credits: Engel Tatiana

Many fun-going events were conducted for the lecturers out of which archery proved to be too likable. To add up to the charm of the ethnicity contest, there was a profusion of ennobling tradition-a tribal dance was staged and a famous dance of Kerela with its unique elegance called Moiniattam was performed. The day was ended by crowning Mr. and Miss Ethnic. Remarkably both the winners happened to be from the ECE department which added fuel to the fire of each and every guy from ECE.

SAMSKRUTI ’10 endured a great impact on all the family members of ATRI as it not only bewitched everyone but also added flavor to the tastiest dish ever- OUR TRADITION. God bless India and its heritage.

Sree Dattha Institutions has commendable credentials in the field of Education by producing more than 1000 quality professionals every year under the auspices of Mr. G. Panduranga Reddy, Founder Secretary with his dynamism, cosmopolitan thinking, and probably the only possible chairman who had taken great deal of risk in changing the college from Narayanpet to Ibrahimpatnam (Hyderabad), previously known as Narayanpet Institutions of Technology and Science (NITS) for the sake of students’ well being. His success can be attributed to the fact that he always works for his students.

The institution has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, permitted by Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and recognized by the Government of India. It’s also an ISO 9000 – 2001 certified organization accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation). With an objective of making the Institution a model by itself in all respects, Sree Dattha Insitutions has evolved a system of holistic education, based on the overall development of the students.
What happens to a stone if it’s in the hands of bad sculptor? It loses its finesse and the same stone when in the hands of a good sculptor, gets transformed into a gem. In the same way Sree Dattha brings out the best in its students by every term and trace. And the best point to conclude can be no student regrets being a part of this stupendous college.

Everyone has a different perspective as to what to achieve in life and adolescence is the best stage to foresee your destiny. It is at this level when a student struggles to grab as many opportunities as possible to get him selected to a workplace of his choice. With majority of the professional colleges switching to uniforms for their students, one of the hottest topics of discussion now a days among the youngsters is their dress code, its necessity and whether they should have such a code for dressing in the first place!

“Hmm… Kya pehnu? Do these shoes match with my trousers?? Do my earrings go with this kurti?” These are some of the early morning blues that most people, especially teenagers face. But for the students of Aurora’s Technological and Research Institute (ATRI), no such thoughts pop up in their ‘think tank’. They have a “cool” uniform which comprises of a pair of blue jeans with a white formal shirt (for both, boys and girls) to be worn with white sports shoes. The students of this institute found their uniform to be very trendy…some of them even call it very soothing to the human eye because of the combination of two splendid and all time favorite colors- ‘Blue’ and ‘White’. “I am very happy with our dress code, mainly because it gives us a sense of professionalism. While conveying from home and college, people recognize me by my college uniform and inquire about it which makes me feel really proud!” says a second year B.tech student, Yogita, who takes an immense pride in her uniform.

Professional Look Credit: Engel Tatiana

Most of the striplings approve the fact that implementation of the uniform encourages discipline and eventually diminishes economic and social barriers within the students. Wearing a uniform helps the students to instill a sense of belonging and pride in the institution and to focus more on their subject matter without getting deviated by staring at what his/her classmate is wearing. “Two months back, I met a lady, working in IBM, in an auto-rickshaw. She was very conscious about her clothing (a pair of trousers and a shirt). When I asked her the reason for the discomfort, she claimed that she was used to wearing salwar kameez from her childhood. That made me feel good that I joined an institution where jeans is included in the uniform which would prove to be beneficial when we get into jobs” says Supriya, a B.tech first year student, who aspires to be a part of IBM in future.

Maintaining Uniformity Credit : Engel Tatiana

If all students are required to wear a mandatory uniform or abide by a certain dress code, students will be mutually connected from within and be more focused on their work and not their appearance. To the highest degree of significance, it furnishes our maturity level which is extremely important while working with an organization. It helps students resist peer pressure to buy trendy clothes and reduce the risk of developing an inferiority complex by seeing other students in funky dresses. Certainly, a vibe of jealousy is developed. On the contrary, some students conceive that enforcing a uniform at this level would violate the fundamental right of a person-’Freedom of Expression’, hindering their creativity levels while some others feel that this very reason would help them push their frontiers of creativity in other aspects. Vaishak Nair, another first year B.tech student says, ”I like the uniform of the college, the reason being that it gives us a casual look though we are approaching it with a sense of education. Other college students are restricted to formals but given a chance to join an institution where freedom is given in choosing our dresses, I would definitely join the latter.”

Variety is the spice of life, but in today’s technological kingdom, variety is more important in your work rather than your apparel. This is disapproved by some students like Virajit who claims, “The country’s youth is matured enough as to what to wear and what not to wear in educational institutions. Wearing and seeing the same uniform for four years is a topic to be pondered upon.”

Girls Gossiping Around Credits: Engel Tatiana

A contradictory fact was given by Mrs.Poonam Minoocha, an English lecturer of ATRI, who comments, “Students wearing a college uniform look smart which boosts up their confidence level and groom them for the corporate world. At the same time it gives a mark of decency and dignity. Most importantly, there is no inhibition for wearing it.”

Like Yogita, many others take pride in their dress code, whereas some others like Supriya find a platform in it, a platform to prepare them for their future careers; and a few like Vaishak prefer to stay away from dress codes. Everyone has their own perspective of approaching things and thus, the necessity of having uniforms in colleges is still an unconcluded discussion.
