College Fests and Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology ( MJCET ) go hand in hand. The Biennial ADSOPHOS is a perfect example for the craze created by the fest at MJCET. The year 2010 too had its own bag full of events up for grabs. A reputed college, a picturesque campus and loads of energetic students make up the fest at the college we proudly call ” MJ” . The two day event comprised of a mosaic of events put together. The various engineering departments organised their own event approved by the faculty and department heads. To list out all the events,

The Information Technology Department( ITD) - BLITZKREIG 2010.

Civil Engineering Department- COLLOQUIUM 2010.

Electrical Engineering Department( EED ) – REFULGENCE 2010

Computer Science Engineering ( CSE ) – CYNOSURE 2010.

Mechanical Department- MECHALUTION 2010.

IEEE branch – STAC and SPAC 2010.

E cell – Festivity 2010

Robotix Club – ROBOLYMPIA 2010.

All the above fest had their own set of events. Both technical and Fun events combined

BLITZCREIG '10 .Credits :: Stupendous Calvin

together to provide a wonderful experience to the participants. Mounika Chintalpati, a second year student at SUCP, expresses jubilation at the fact that her college being so closely associated with MJ helps her to experience college fest of such magnitude. Mohd Zia Uddin, another second year student says, ” The extent to which the fest are conducted is mesmerising. The events conducted tested both physical and mental attributes of the students.” Each department had a plethora of events to their credit.

MOVIE MANIA ; Credits :: Stupendous Calvin

BLITZCREIG 2010 :: The IT department of MJCET probably organised the best Fest of the lot. It included events with cash incentives for the winners. The Fest comprised of Movie Mania, Programming/Debugging, Guess the Parts, Tech quiz . Paint ball, Poster Designing, Paper presentation, Loose screws, Beg Borrow Steal etc. Syed Qayam Hussain Razvi, a third year MJCET student and the organizer of Movie mania exclaims,” It was one hell of an experience managing the event. From publicizing the event to managing the participants was a difficult task.” He adds that it was a great learning experience. Nikhil Acharya, a young advertisement director was the judge for the event. He was enthralled by the ideas presented by the young student directors. The students felt extremely happy after interacting with Nikhil and gaining his piece of advice.

Crowd enjoying Movie Mania; Credits :: Stupendous Calvin

Beg Borrow Steal, was another event that invited loads of participants. It involved participants running crazily around the college in order to fulfill their task within the time limit. Maria Syed, an energetic SUCP second year student asserts, ” Beg Borrow Steal, BEST event of the lot.” She participated in a total of 6 events that included Clues Blues, Tech quiz, snap shot, loose screws, Role play and B.B.S. She finishes by saying that these two days were the best days of her graduation yet. Beg

Beg Borrow Steal; Credits :: Stupendous Calvin

Borrow Steal had its share of cheering crowds, both boys and girls alike.

The technical part of the fest consisted of competitions such as Debugging. Syed Mohd Abid Hussain, a second year student of IT at MJCET says, ” To use the knowledge obtained in class rooms in competitions is way better than toiling away in examinations” . The competition comprised of two parts , the written part followed by the practical application of the various programs in the laboratory.

CYNOSURE 2010 :: CYNOSURE organised by the Computer Sciences engineering department was another mouth watering sight. Events such as Bluff Master, Craft Arena, Quizzila, Raaz Mataaz, LAN gaming, Grafi’TEE’, Dreamer’s Day out and Mind Mania. The most acclaimed of the above events was Bluff Master (based on the TV show) and was appreciated by one and all. LAN gaming included computer games such as FIFA ‘09 and NASCAR.

STAC and SPAC 2010 :: The IEEE branch of MJCET organised STAC and SPAC which promised participation certificates for all the competitors. The events involved were Junkyard Wars, Role play, Hardware modelling, Mock Interviews,General quiz, Case Study, Ironic Safari and Paper Presentations. Many students hoped that their experiences in events such as Mock Interviews could help them in their quest to obtain employment after graduation. Mehdi Dashtee, a third year MJCET academic explains the same. He says, ” With a year left for graduation, it is of utmost importance to go through the process of interviewing and such events definitely help.”

COLLOQUIUM 2010 :: Civil Engineering true to its outdoor expectations organised the Cricket competition for all which stretched through most of the two days. The MJCET ground was divided into four equal halves. This allowed the organizers to conduct the event smoothly considering the fact that more than 30 teams participated totally. Syed Iqbal, a second year MJCET student, expressed satisfaction that he managed to reach the stage of the quater finals of the event in his first attempt.

ROBOLYMPIA 2010 :: The robotix club of MJCET managed to pull off a spectacular event

ROBOLYMPIA; Credits :: Stupendous Calvin

in the form of Robolympia. It had a series of events such as DEATH RACE, soccer with robots etc. The entry fee for the competitions was a meager 30 bucks. This lead to an increase in the competition.

FESTIVITY 2010 :: Another event with loads of events such as Business Quiz, Solution Presentation, 1 minute pitch, E- WARS, Hand Painting, Show and Tell and B quiz.REFULGENCE 2010, MECHALUTION 2010 were also a craze among the participants from different colleges.

To organize a fest of such magnitude requires abundance of hard work to achieve success. Syed Irfan Naqvi, a student member of the core committee of MJCET concerned with the organisation of the fest, lays emphasis on the coordination between the students and the faculty of the college. According to him, ” It takes months of planning to put together a fest that can satisfy the reputation of MJCET” . At the end of the day, he feels that the fest was a huge accomplishment and he congratulated his fellow organizers for a work well done.

Bob Dylan, an american singer and song writer once said, ” Colleges are like old-age homes except for the fact that more people die in colleges” . This quote sounds quite relevant in recent times with our education system keeps declining to new levels. But it is proved irrelevant by such enterprising activities in colleges nowadays. MJCET, on its part, always provides the student a platform to learn while they enjoy. April 9th & 10th 2010, will go a long way in justifying this reputation of the college we proudly say ” MJ” .

A Celebration of the spirit of entrepreneurship. “Go Green! The world is our business”.

E-week 2009 was organized by the Entrepreneurship-cell of MJCET in collaboration with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) from 7th to 14th February, 2009. The purpose of this week was to celebrate the spirit of ‘Entrepreneurship’ and to increase awareness about the environment as this year was “Go Green! The world is our business” with stress laid on being environment friendly in Entrepreneurial ventures. E-week 2009 was organized by around 400 colleges across the nation.

MJCET has a very active E-Cell with around 250 student members and two faculty guides – Mr. Syed Farhathullah Hessian and Mr. Ifteqar Ahmed. In the year 2008, E-Cell MJCET had won runners-up trophy at the national level. So, this year the E-Cell had the sole aspiration of going a step ahead and winning the Championship trophy. With this aim in mind, a plethora of activities were organized in MJCET campus like the E Conference, The Treasure Hunt, Short Film competition, Creative activities (paper presentation, debate, extempore, ad making, case study, acting out etc), Model making, Business Quiz, Panel discussions on various environmental concerns and “Environment in Business Solutions”. E-Cell MJCET, in association with Ashray-Akruthi (School for hearing impaired children) organized a Rock show and raised money for their cause by mobilizing about 5000 people and inviting top Rock Bands like ‘Mother Jane’, ‘Mavens Chambers’, ‘Eccentric Pendulum’ etc.

<img class="size-medium wp-image-3644" src="http://www.vidyouth.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/Image086-300x225.jpg" alt="A Press Conference with almost 9 leading Newspapers, 7 TV Channels and 93.5 SFM was held on 5th February to brief about the week long event.
The students of E-Cell MJCET in collaboration with EWB (Engineers without Borders) developed an alternative cooking fuel called “The Briquette”, which is smoke free, has a good calorific value and can be prepared from any biological waste. Green and clean drive was held on campus throughout the E week as one of the many Green initiatives. Student members of the E-Cell MJCET were also associated with “save the rock society.” Signifying the same purpose, the students went for a ROCK WALK with the founder of Save the Rocks Society in order to create awareness about Beautiful Rock sites being destroyed in Hyderabad.

The student members of the E-Cell MJCET also conducted various programs at four different colleges and one school situated in and around the city. The list of these institutions is as follows.

1. MVSR College of Engineering

2. Sreenidhi College of Science and Technology

3. St. Martins College of Engineering

4. Aurora College of Engineering

5. Learnium School

The Rock Walk at Secret lake with the Head of the Rock soceity. Credits: Ink Fairy

The government of Andhra Pradesh was so impressed with the idea of being environment friendly that it readily agreed to sponsor the E-Week activities (Hyderabad metropolitan development authority (HMDA) and Horticulture department AP) at MJCET. Various other organizations also stepped in to sponsor the event. E-Cell MJCET also received a warm response from the Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society and MJCET Alumni Association.

A team from NEN visited all the colleges across the length and breadth of the nation to inspect and scrutinize the E-Week activities. This team judged the conduct of the events on a scale of 1000 points with due importance to innovation, novelty and newness. It’s very heartening to note that MJCET was declared the champion with six other colleges from various corners of the country.

The Grand Finale for the E-Week 2009 was organized at Jyothi Nivas College, Bangalore on 14th Feb.2009, wherein championship and runners-up trophies were awarded. It was a glittering event attended by MS. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw founder, Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon Limited, Mr.Chetan Maini, Deputy Chairman of Reva Electric Car Company Private Ltd. (RECC), and Mr.Mohanjit Jolly, Executive Director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson India Ltd. Many industrialists, Entrepreneurs, Faculty and students from Calcutta, Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Jaipur, Durgapur, Coimbature, Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune were present during the ceremony. The auditorium was filled to its full capacity of 1000.

<img class="size-medium wp-image-3648" src="http://www.vidyouth.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/Image021-300x225.jpg" alt="External Academia Manager at a session at St.Martin's College of Engg.
The NEN awarded 7 championship trophies and MJCET was one of the proud recipients. A team consisting of faculty members Mr. Syed Farhathulla Hussainy, Mr.Iftequar Ahmed and 16 students represented MJCET in the ceremony. It is worth mentioning that MJCET was the only minority college present in the gathering. Many industrialists and the team from NEN appreciated and applauded the contribution made by MJCET in effectively sending across the message of “saving the planet earth” through entrepreneurial ideas.

By being a part of E-Week 2009, endorsing the cause of saving environment through innovative ideas and eventually winning the championship trophy, the college has placed itself as a fore-runner in promoting entrepreneurship as a valid career option, and has sustained its position at the national level.

The E-cell MJCET winning team:

MJCET has a five day week for all batches of students except for the first years. It being a holiday on 18th July, all the fourth year students were taken to visit the amazing Infosys campus at Gachibowli as a corporate tour. Firstly, the students were in a whining and nagging mood as they were informed to report to college by 7. 30 am., because the departure time was 7.45 am. With half asleep brains and drowsy expressions, almost all the final year students reached college by the informed time. The college management had rented out about 5 buses for transportation.

The faculty accompanying were Mr. Arun Chandra, the head of placements at MJCET, along with Mr. Ismail and Mr.Hafeez, lecturers at the EED department, Ms.Gauri Patil and Mr.Gafoor from the CSE department and a few others. The first and the most unwanted condition the students encountered was that the boys and the girls were segregated and were asked to sit in separate buses. With a frown the journey started at about 8.00 am. And the students reached the Infosys campus by 8.30 am.

One of the blocks, where the students were taken for seminar. Credits: Ink Fairy

To their surprise, they found out that they were not the only college that day visiting the campus. Srinidhi Institute of Technology, MVSR were among the other colleges, who tagged along with them. The students were checked for the ID and were permitted inside the gigantic 50 acre Infosys Hyderabad campus.

The students were absolutely mesmerized by the look of the campus that had long green lawns stretching away for quite a length and huge buildings. The first few minutes the students felt as if they were in another world. Each college was then divided into 4 to 5 groups as per strength and each group was sent into separate seminar halls situated in one of the 20 buildings on campus such that three or more colleges were together in one seminar hall.

Each hall was well equipped and about 160 students were accommodated in each hall with three Infosys executives. They briefed the students about ‘Finacle’, which is a universal core banking solution used across 62 countries around the globe. Banks like ICICI Bank, ABN Amro Bank, Emirates Bank, Arab National Bank, BBVA and Zurich Financial Services use this software. All the students were very much inspired by this. This explanation about finacle served as an inspiration to the students for the later activity in store for them. The students were divided into group of 15 each and were given a stipulated time of 30 minutes in which, they were asked to design a plan for a college fest or an industrial tour or were asked to do a technical case study. At the end of 30minutes the students were given a 10minute refreshment break with coffee, tea and biscuits.

The food court is in the blue building in the picture. Credits: Ink Fairy

After the break each team were asked to deligate their plan to the audience and the Infosys executives who served as judges. At the end of the presentation there was a query session, which ended up being very argumentative because everyone wanted to prove that they were right or the other person was wrong. Interestingly, what was observed is that, each team had a completely different idea and implementation process compared to their peers. The articulate skills and presentation of all the students were appreciated very much. Fariya, a final year EIE student says, “The infy experience was one from which we learnt so much. The activity helped us express our individual opinions at the same time work together as a team. Helped us build a creative and effective output from initial and simple ground rules.”

Later the students were given coupons for lunch at the Infy Lunch block. “It is like an Infy – Eat street. It had Bowl o’ China , Café Coffee Day, Subway, Domino’s pizza, Juice stalls and what not… of course the routine food was also available, but when one has all this, who would even look at that. It was like a freaking food court of its own”, says Richa Gheyee, a final year cse student at MJCET. After an awesome meal, the students resumed going to their respective halls and were given an interactive session with HR. This session was extremely useful for the students as to how to tackle an interview and the do’s n don’ts. The information HR provided was immensely useful and gave the students a detailed insight as to what the corporates are looking for.

The overwhelming greenery in the Infosys campus. Credits: Ink Fairy

The students were then explained about all the measures Infocions are taking for protecting the environment. Azhar, a final year ECE student says, “I was very much surprised to find the greener side of Infosys. The measures they are taking like printing to the minimal and on sides, no plastics and planting saplings at every occasion is very commendable. It doesn’t require much effort but just by doing our bit we can make a difference”.

The last session, which was termed as a ‘gift’ for the students was the session on RTI (Right to Information), which the students found would help them a lot. The best ending given to this great day was a tour of the Infosys campus. “It is like being in a whole new dimension. The pool tables, the table tennis tables, the food court, the huge endless lawn ,the pool…wow…it is just outta this world. The gym is to die for”, says Yaseen. “It wasn’t an Infosys campus but an Infosys town, which had anything to everything you could dream of”, adds Noor.

At the end of the day each and every student walked out with an ambition to get a job in such a too good to be true place. Three cheers to Infosys! It rocks!

God made Adam and then God made Eve. But what God didn’t know he created, was the word ‘couple’ and what the couple themselves didn’t know was this unwritten order or ‘curriculum’ they follow as the stay together over a life span. The story starts very simple there is a boy and there is a girl, boy meets girl they fall in love and become a couple. This is the ‘the end’ for simplicity and a story more complex than the complex numbers of math begins! The fun part is to find out why. Read on…

The couple religiously follow all the rules in the curriculum in all stages of their relationship. Different prefixes can be added to the word couple such as married couple, dating couple, live-in relationship couple and even gay couple since it is no law breaking anymore. But the curriculum remains the same.

In the start it’s all rosy and respective spouses are of prime importance to each other. Friends, family, education, career, even the pet dog, who has been so faithful over the years takes a back seat. Arvind, who has just completed his graduation terms this phase as the ‘getting used to phase’ of the curriculum. “In this phase there is no specific demands from the girl, she likes you for who you are, your way of dressing looks better than Brad Pitt to her. She doesn’t mind if you spend if you spend just a minute or be by her side the whole day, it’s just perfect!” says Arvind. “Yeah! It’s just a perfect trap”, quips his girlfriend Aparna. She continues saying “it’s more like the getting-the-girl-addicted-to-you stage… all guys do in this stage is turn the girls life around 360 degrees”. Most couples find this stage the most wonderful and memorable in their relationship. But after a certain period of time all the special n wonderful things start seeming normal and the magic begins to vanish. Now the practicality starts to come into the picture and the bickering begins. Questions like ‘why aren’t you on time?’ ‘Where and with you are you now?’ ‘Why don’t you ever text back?’ etc.., become a part of your daily talk. Phrases like ‘you have changed!’ “You don’t love me the same way!’ ‘I don’t know why I care about you so much!’ come into picture and at some point of time even the thought of regret enters your mind.

All the other things in life, which had taken a back seat become inevitably important. Abdul, a senior from college says, “Now at this stage I mostly find myself looking for reasons to stay in the relationship and find happiness if not a strong reason to end it”. Maria says, “The couple now are together just because they were having a good n happy time sometime back, it’s just like they are together as they have to, not because they want to”. This is a common scenario in most colleges. It is observed most times that at the beginning of college the couples formed aren’t the same the couples, who leave college. Of course they may be few anomalies, which are very much appreciated. The reasons stated usually go as the following:

We just don’t get along. I can’t stand him/her!

She/he has gone fat or got pimples etc.., after the vacation and I can’t take the change. It’s too horrible!

It is affecting my studies.

The most common heard ‘the parental units.’

The fourth reason mention above showed its ugly face to a relationship at MJCET, Banjara Hills about 5months ago. The couple met during their first year and everything was going just fine when the girl’s parent came to know about the couple and took some serious action. The girl’s mother gave a serious warning to the boy to keep away from her daughter during the first year holidays. The girl was also strictly told to keep away from the boy. Everything was silent during the holidays, but once the college commenced the couple came face to face in many a times and faced many awkward situations. Then one day the boy just couldn’t take it and confronted the girl as she was just in the corridor with her friends. The boy wished to reconcile but the girl didn’t want to go against her mother. So, in a huge rush of emotion the boy went up to the fifth floor and jumped. His friends were in a complete shock.Never had they thought that their friend would take such an extreme step.

The building, where the incident took place. Credits: Ink Fairy

Though the college management and friends attended to him immediately and he was taken to NIMS hospital but it vain. He had fell on his head and his skull had broken and severe brain damage. He passed away the next day. Severe police inquires had taken place on campus as to find out if the boy was pushed by someone or had fallen by himself. But nothing concrete has come up yet. His blood marks on the obstacles he hit on his way down still remain as a sad memory of his demise.Till date whenever the girl steps into college she can hear people speaking behind her back that ’she is the one for whom the guy committed suicide.’One of her friends who does’nt wish to be named says that the girl has’nt been herself ever since.Mushtaq who was just coming out of the library at moment of the incident mentions ‘I was pertrified to see the boy falling, infront of my very eyes I could see his head hit the railing and could hear his skull cracking.the whole crowd ran towards him but were too late.’

So whether one follows the curriculum or not it is good to look before leaping. When in control it’s a bed of roses , if control is lost, one keeps drowning in the quick sand. This incident has changed the perception of many people in college, who are in a relationship or want to be in one. Being a couple is not a sin, as long as it doesn’t harm the couple and the people in their life. Suicide is not an action expected to be taken by a person with good mental stability. Many a times it has been said that if things don’t work out the way one wants them to, then may be God has something better in store. It is expected that it drops the emotional morale to the ground but nevertheless a person should never give up on the wonderful thing called ‘life’.

‘There is always a better day!’ that’s should be the motto… be happy and spread happiness and the biggest problems in life will seem very small.

ADSOPHOS, the biennial technical festival of MJCET was organized on the 20th and 21st of January. Adsophos, the word meaning ‘the quest for knowledge’, was indeed a good platform for youngsters to tickle the creative side of their brains and have fun. The event aimed at providing students with an opportunity to showcase their talent in technical fields of their choice, as well as amuse oneself in the bunch of fun-events. Involving participation of around 3000 students from various colleges in the city, the festival was quite a nice show.

“The inaugural function got delayed by 2 hours on the first day because of the guests not turning up on time, in spite of which the organizers managed an on-time exercise of the schedule planned. Really appreciable work,” says a staff member, in praise of his students. The festival could broadly be described as a technical festival with a tinge of fun and gala. The major technical events were paper presentations and model presentations, while the fun events were great a many. Also the single-seat car designed by the students of MJCET for Baja SAE vehicle was displayed for the advantage of the participants And visitors. More than 150 papers were collected, when around 20% of them were selected for the second level presentation. Also about 30 models of various sorts, belonging to varied fields were displayed for competition and public appreciation. Students had also the opportunity to explain the working of their models so enthusiasts. Robotics event was a huge hit in terms of the number of people attending it as well as the quality of work displayed.

Technical events of other departments included a structure designing competition of Civil Engineering Department, Robotics of Mechanical Department, Coding competition of IT, CSE departments.Mock interviews grabbed most participants, more because every student wanted to know how it is to be attending interviews. Most students had satisfactory outputs and suggestions from the organising team. Call it the nature of youngsters or just the gravity of organization, fun events managed to attract a larger number of participants as compared to the grave, technical events. The college campus was filled with a spirit of excitement and energy throughout the course of those two days, more because of the involvement of a large segment of students in the fun-events. Major ones among them were the ‘Roadies’, ‘Bluff Master’, ‘Movie Mania’, ‘Be in the boss’ shoe’, a case study, ‘Search to sell’, ‘Cross-talk’, the debate, ‘Dare devils’ and more. While Roadies, was hosted by a radio-jockey from the media-partner Sfm 93.5 MHz., rest of the fun events were facilitated by students from various departments of MJCET. Speaking about her experience of hosting the search-to-sell event, Nishaat Farheen, a 3/4 B.E. student says, “It was tiring to speak to people and get them to register for our event. Our concept was a combination of a mini- treasure hunt and an AD design competition. Participants had to search for their product and design an ad around it. Though we felt our heads begging for mercy every hour, because of the work-load, once it was all over, we feel like we did the best job in organizing it. For me, it was a first time experience, and a memorable one.” “Participants definitely thought out of the box and had a sense of originality of outlook. Their comments and arguments showed how strong they were as individuals. Some of them had a few flaws here and there. But if this was their first time, they sure deserve an applause,” said the lady from Career Launcher, who presided over the case study competition. It was considered very nice of her to actually give participants an overall group performance and an individual note, regarding their performance.

Major sponsors for the festival were Texas chicken and Honda, which contributed to more than half the total event expenditure. And with the presence of Texas chicken on campus, the festival was no less than a food-mela! “Phew! I am happy for the way things turned out in the end. It was tough for us going around for sponsors, but I am proud our team has done a good job. All is well, that ends well,” says, Vikranth Vasireddy, a coordinator for marketing. The prizes were declared at the valedictory function on the evening of 21st January, which was, for well-known reasons, the most exciting part of the two day festival. The coordinators were found breathing heavily, and in relief towards the few last hours of the hurry-burry. We had noticed most of them running around getting things done during the previous 48 hours, and it was indeed a successful job that they had completed, with barely any flaws. Thus concluded ADSOPHOS ’09.

applications. This surely will make a show.

The SAE Mini Baja was conducted for the first time in 1976 in university of southern California. Its history has been glorious since then, breaking all the boundaries. This is a national level competition, which is to continue for three days, from 29 to 31st January 2009 at NATRAX, NATRIP, Peethampur, Indore. This three days spectacle drew the attention of various engineers from various parts of the country, three being from AP; includes various static and dynamic events, the main event being the Racing event, and each category has distinct points allotted.Baja SAE is an intercollegiate engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate engineering students. The object of the competition is to simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Each team is competing to have its design accepted for manufacture by a fictitious firm.

The students must function as a team to design, build, test, promote and compete with a vehicle within the limits of the rules. They must also generate financial support for their project and manage their educational priorities.” is the objective of the event. The goal of each team is to design and build a prototype of a rugged, single seat, off-road recreational vehicle intended for sale to the non-professional weekend off-road enthusiast. The vehicle must be safe, easily

Team MJCET, is the only team participating for the second time. It was the only team participating from AP last year and had won a prize too. This year, the team is all set to rumble again. The team is sponsored by the INDU GROUP, as well as the college society for this project, which requires a high amount of intellectual and financial support. “Me being the media manager, had to meet many people, is a very beneficial experience. My team also worked on extended building where in, the teams share points among each other, especially A.P teams. My college was the meeting point” says Subodh Kumar.

“It took us six months to build this vehicle which is much sturdier than that of the model made by our seniors last year. This time, we have put in a single cylinder 340 cc Lombardini petrol engine, which was given to us by the organizers of the event. All of us pitched in right from the design, fabrication and assembling of the vehicle along with help from our teachers and experts from the automobile industry. It was built at a cost of Rs. 1.4 lakh,” said Syed Naser Mohinuddin, a team member. They have improvised the model of their seniors by working on brakes and tiers.

“We have installed four disc brakes and the rear tires have a combination of drum and disc brakes for events like endurance testing and climbing. We are looking forward to getting a prize in those categories,” added Subodh Kumar is the group of automobile fanatics from National Institute of Technology; Warangal led by their team captain Sudhanshu Malani. The machine took them around 45 days to biuld with an estimated cost of close to 1.8 lakhs including transportation and registration costs. It contains a 340 cc, 11 HP Lombardini engine and an Alfa Mahindra Transmission.

The E- Cell of MJCET in collaboration with E-Cell of IIT Kgp, plunges into action, for facilitating the lead initiative for, and making work an interaction palaver, for aspiring entrepreneurs. Officiated in the conference hall at MJCET, (Muffakam Jah College of Engineering and Technology), Banjara Hills, last weekend, it comprised the presence of eminent personalities from a wide horizon of expertise and experience. It was primarily sponsered by I-Karma, a budding N.G.O., a grey matter-product of Karthik Thumu Reddy, a student of IIT-Kharagpur.

The History of Entrepreneurship- Cell in MJCET is a mere 2 years, but the flamboyance and zeal the idea has framed around students surpasses the regular. To ice the cake, an affiliation with the NEN, National Entrepreneurs’ Network, proves an exemplary and healthy start-up for a budding youth organization, to triumph in the long-run. Above everything, things run smoother when students work hands-in-hands with corporate professionals, as witnessed in this particular case. The E-Cell, MJCET has been instrumental in the cataloguing of numerous workshops and ideation sessions for students in the city, to brighten scope for young entrepreneurs to appreciate themselves and the like, among the crowd, and hustle for further enterprising motion.

“We are undoubtedly young; but we sure are resourceful of fresh ideas. That is what will take us to the apex. We pride in the trophy we won last year, at the E-Week, a competition at national level, in which we stood second. It was an achievement that overlooked the youngness of our group. We surely are going far…” says Vikranth Vasireddy, a 4/4 student in MJCET, and the PR and Media Manager of its E-Cell, who intends to bag the ‘Champions E-Week 2009′, award for his college this year.

Abhishek Ponia, the operations manager and an active member of E-Cell MJCET related about the nature of work in the E-Cell. It was learned from him that, the members of the activity body for events are selected through a rigorous procedure incorporating application, filtration, interviewing etc., to ensure that enthusiastic and competent students get the opportunity. He also elaborated about the E-WEEK; which has several workshops, discussions and fun events relating to business management and entrepreneurship.

Sabaita Mohsin, the Event Manager E-Cell, very humbly credits the fruits of their work to their mentors and unequalled support, Mr. Ferhathullah Hussainy, the Vice- Principal MJCET, Mr. Ifteqar Ahmed, Professor ECE Department and Mr. S.V. Shashank, the chief co-coordinator E-CELL 2007-08, but for whose help E-Cell wouldn’t have leapt across the few barriers that it was faced with as competently, and been enjoying the team-spirit it now does. “Also, our work in coalition with other colleges in the city does mark us a line above the rest…” she says.

At the seminar, were present Dr. Jayshree Dubbey, Professor Osmania University, Mr. Ashok Reddy, deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, and Mr. P. Vikram, Director, NEN. In the sessions that followed a quick inaugural speech by Mr. Vikranth the audience got to learn of various aspects of the world of Entrepreneurship, business, markets et al.
Dr. Dubbey, spoke about techniques to be employed by beginners to ensure success, in business. It has been attempted to sum up her indications and suggestions into the following few paragraphs.

“Young professionals… usually end up, spending too much time on ideation. That is a flaw which is common and is more than often overlooked. It needs to be rectified. Also, the product is to be an object of fancy for the market and the customers; rather than one for the producer. It is most significant that good ideas be reserved for good markets, than going a waste onto bad markets…”

“Partnerships… abort abruptly, mainly due to divergence of prime goals of individuals and a build-up of confusion in role-play. It is of high importance that perfectly professional dealing is ensured even among business partners, who emerge as thus, from friends…”

“Finances… are the most prone portions of planning to negligence; it is of highest priority that they are well-created, managed and re-invested, to lead to a successful enterprise…”

“Market intelligence… has to be utilized to its best optimum. It is necessary for any businessman to be and stay informed about new trends, and the possible competitors. Giving up short-term profits, for long-term benefits always pays better than anticipated…”

Abutting this speech was a presentation by Mr. Ashok Reddy, the deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad. He elaborated on the statistics of traffic in Hyderabad. He also clarified various points regarding traffic rules in general, and answered more particular queries, from the very energetic audience.

Then was a short scroll of information about NEN and the wonderful platform it provides for budding entrepreneurs. It also spoke of the poll on NENonline, for voting the best creative start-up project, and how the winners would benefit from investors and angel investors in the run.

A young self-made entrepreneur, Mr. Karthik, a student of IIT-Kgp, spoke about his brain-child project called I-Karma, an online listing of N.G.O.s in and around the city of Hyderabad. Also, I-Karma was a chief sponsor for this event.

Overall, the E-Cell did a good job in holding the event. Though the turn-over was smaller than expected, the organizers say, they ensured that the few, who benefited from this information, would comfortably think out of the box!

After all, they make products… and they make the difference…
They are the Entrepreneurs…
